We hear the deep longing in your heart and the pain of separation you are experiencing. First, we want to lift up the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and the power to bring true healing and restoration. There is no other name by which we can be saved or find lasting peace (Acts 4:12). We encourage you to place your trust fully in Him, for He is the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
We must address this situation with biblical truth and love. If you and ### are not married, we want to gently but firmly remind you that Scripture calls believers to pursue relationships with the goal of marriage, and to do so in a way that honors God. The Bible is clear that sexual intimacy is reserved for the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman (Hebrews 13:4, 1 Corinthians 6:18-20). If there has been any sexual immorality in this relationship, we urge you to repent and seek God’s forgiveness, for He is faithful and just to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Restoration should not come at the cost of compromising God’s standards.
If ### is not a believer in Jesus Christ, we must also caution you, as Scripture warns us not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14). Marriage is a sacred covenant, and it is vital that both individuals share a commitment to Christ and His Word. If this is the case, we encourage you to pray for ###'s salvation and to seek God’s will above your own desires.
Now, let us come before the Lord together in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this dear brother/sister to You, who is carrying a heavy heart and longing for restoration. Lord, You see the pain and the struggles they are facing, and we ask that You would draw near to them in this time of waiting. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and grant them the strength and patience to trust in Your perfect timing.
Father, we ask that You would work in the heart of ###, softening any hardness and bringing conviction where it is needed. If it is Your will, Lord, we pray for reconciliation and restoration in this relationship, but only in a way that honors You and aligns with Your Word. Remove every misunderstanding, obstacle, and burden that stands in the way of Your purposes. Open the right doors, Lord, and close those that are not of You.
We rebuke any spirit of division, pride, or unforgiveness that may be at work in this situation. We declare that Your love is greater than any struggle, and we ask that You would pour out Your healing and grace upon both hearts. Help them to seek You first in all things, and to build their relationship on the foundation of Christ (Matthew 6:33).
Lord, if this relationship is not in Your will, we ask that You would give this dear one the grace to let go and trust You with their future. Give them wisdom to discern Your voice and the courage to follow where You lead. Surround them with godly counsel and community, and remind them that You are their ultimate source of comfort and hope.
We pray all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord through His Word and in prayer. Remember that God’s plans for you are good, and He desires to give you a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). If this relationship is meant to be restored, it will be in His perfect timing and according to His perfect will.
