REJOICE IN THE LORD ALWAYS

REJOICE IN THE LORD ALWAYS

Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.

The world experiences joy and happiness in direct proportion to their circumstances. Bad circumstances produce sorrow and depression, while good circumstances produce joy and a sense of peace. Believe it or not that is bondage my friend, and that should not be the case with Christians. Our joy is not dependent on things or circumstances, but rather in the person of Jesus Christ who is our peace and joy.

The way we can take advantage of this joy and peace in the midst of tribulation, is found in Colossians 3:1-2 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Note: we are to have our minds and hearts stayed on things above and not on things of this earth. Remember this, 2 Cor. 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. In light of these scriptures, the problems of this life grow very dim when we compare them to the glory of God that is ours through Jesus our Lord.

We can rejoice in the Lord always (Phil. 4:4) because rejoicing is a choice, not a reaction to our environment or circumstances. Joy is a gift from God that was given to us the day we were born again. It was placed within our spirit and it doesn't fluctuate or diminish; it is constant. The Lord has put the joy inside us and we can "work this out" by choosing to obey this command in scripture.

Many people are not experiencing true joy because they are waiting to rejoice when things are going good, and most of the time in this fallen world that isn't the case. We are suppose to "rejoice in the Lord always." That means we are supposed to rejoice in who the Lord is and what He has done for us.

John 16:33 "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Psalms 16:11 Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Thank you, we should rejoice at all times and not only when things are good. Although it is hard in someways to rejoice when you feel beat down it builds faith and character. As always thank you Don, you're such a blessing!
