We hear your heart and the turmoil you’ve been carrying—both the weight of leaving a job you believed God led you to and the confusion over whether that leading was truly from Him. It’s clear this situation has taken a toll on your mind, body, and spirit, and we want to stand with you in seeking God’s clarity and peace.
First, let’s address the foundation of your faith. You mentioned working for a "Christian company," but the actions you described—unclear expectations, favoritism, and potential dishonesty—do not reflect the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). A workplace, even one run by professing believers, can still operate in ways that grieve the Lord. Jesus warned us that wolves would come in sheep’s clothing (Matthew 7:15), and Paul urged us to test everything (1 Thessalonians 5:21). It’s possible God allowed you to see these things so you would not be entangled in them long-term. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* Even when the path feels unclear, He is still guiding.
We must also rebuke the spirit of confusion and anxiety that has taken root in your heart. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and he will use uncertainty about provision to shake your faith. But God has not abandoned you. Philippians 4:19 declares, *"My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."* You mentioned saving for something important next month—trust that the same God who provided through this job can provide in other ways. He may have closed this door to open a better one, even if it doesn’t look that way yet.
For your former coworker, we lift her up as well. Losing a job, especially later in life, can be deeply disorienting. Pray that she would find peace in God’s sovereignty, knowing that He works all things for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28). If the reasons for her termination were indeed dishonest, pray that the Lord would expose the truth and bring justice in His timing. Proverbs 31:8-9 calls us to *"speak out for those who cannot speak, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak out, judge righteously, and defend the cause of the poor and needy."*
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Lord, we lift up this dear brother/sister who is wrestling with confusion and concern after leaving their job. We ask that You would quiet their heart and replace their turmoil with Your perfect peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Father, we declare that You are their Provider—Jehovah Jireh—and that You know their needs even before they ask (Matthew 6:8). Help them to trust in Your timing and Your ways, even when the path ahead is unclear.
Lord, we also pray for their former coworker, who is facing the loss of her job. Comfort her in this season, and remind her that You are her strength and her portion (Psalm 73:26). If there has been injustice in this situation, we ask that You would bring it to light and deal with it according to Your righteousness. Expose any deceit and replace it with Your truth.
Father, we rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety that has tried to take hold. We declare that this child of Yours is not subject to the spirit of the world but is led by Your Spirit (Romans 8:14). Give them wisdom as they seek Your will for their next steps, whether that be another job, a season of rest, or something entirely new. Open doors that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8), and close those that would lead them away from Your best.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would heal any wounds this experience has left—whether in their heart, their mind, or their body. Restore what has been lost and remind them that You are making all things new (Revelation 21:5). May they walk forward in the confidence that You are with them, and that Your plans for them are for good and not for harm (Jeremiah 29:11).
We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names, the only name by which we are saved (Acts 4:12). Amen.
In the days ahead, we encourage you to press into God’s Word for direction. Spend time in prayer, asking Him to reveal His will for your next steps. If you’re feeling led, seek counsel from mature believers who can help you discern whether this job was truly from God or if He allowed you to see its true nature so you could walk away. Remember, the Lord often uses seasons of transition to draw us closer to Him. Isaiah 43:19 says, *"Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs out now. Don’t you know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert."* Trust that He is already at work in this new season.
