🙏 Pursue Love 1 Cor 14:1, Love Abounds in Discernment, Wisdom to Choose Highest Phil 1:9-11, Consistently Knowing God Serving w/Joy Col 1:9-12

Beloved Warrior
🙇🏻 Perfect Father, we thank You we can pursue love, pray in accord with the apostolic prayers, asking, “May our love abound in all knowledge and intense discernment, so we may distinguish between things that differ (see and choose those things which are highest, most excellent, and different from all earthly things -- God's perfect will, way and timing -- which transforms us by the renewing of our minds, as test and approve what the will of God is, that which is good, acceptable and perfect, c.f. Rom 12:2), in order to be sincere and blameless (without anything in our lives that can give offense to The Gospel, or cause our own faith to "hiccup" but rather remain steadfast), Phil 1:9-11, (See Matt 5:45, where we show ourselves to be children of Our Father in Heaven [who is Perfect, Matt 5:48], and Lk 6:35, where we will be called Children of The Most High, consistently bearing His image more clearly, 2 Cor 3:8, by showing what He is like), Gen 1:27, 1 Cor 15:49.

"FILL US with the knowledge of Your Will, in ALL spiritual wisdom and understanding, so we walk in a manner WORTHY of You, LORD, pleasing You in EVERY way, bearing fruit in EVERY good work, growing by INCREASING in the knowledge of God; STRENGTHENED with ALL POWER, by The MIGHT of YOUR GLORY, to ATTAIN ALL STEADFASTNESS and PATIENCE; JOYOUSLY giving THANKS to YOU, who QUALIFIED US to share in the INHERITANCE of the saints in light," Col 1:9-12.

Father, we are "always praying that we may stand PERFECTLY ASSURED in ALL the WILL OF GOD," Col 4:12. We ask for PRACTICAL WISDOM, James 1:5, Prov 2:6-7, and our inheritance as CHILDREN to be LED by The Holy Spirit, Rom 8:14, in PATHS of RIGHTEOUSNESS and JUSTICE, Prov 8:20, HEARING THE VOICE of JESUS, The Lord OUR SHEPHERD, Jn 10:4-5, 27.

Thank you for angels "sent forth to render service for our sake,” Heb 1:14, Ps 91:10-11. Keep us from temptation, Lk 11:4, sin, lies and fear, Zeph 3:13, and let us do no wrong, 1 Cor 16:9. Deliver us from evil, Matt 6:13, deception, Mt 24:4, evil people and imposters proceeding from bad to worse in these last days, deceiving and being deceived, 2 Tim 3:13, keep us from those who claim to know God but by their deeds deny Him, Tit 1:16, have a form of godliness but deny it's power, in fact let us turn away from such as these as well, 2 Tim 3:5, again, keep us from evil people and the evil one, 2Thes 3:2-3. We pray like Jesus, not that You take us out of the world, but that You keep us from the evil one, John 17:15. Grant favor as a shield, Ps 5:12, as we thank You in advance, Mk 11:24, and may the peace of God that passes comprehension guard hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, Phil 4:6-7, 2 in whom all the promises are yes and amen, Cor 1:20. In Jesus' Name, Jn 14:13-14.

We come before You, Heavenly Father, with hearts full of gratitude for the privilege to pursue love as You have commanded us. Your Word tells us in 1 Corinthians 14:1, "Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts," and we take this charge to heart. We lift up this prayer, asking that our love may indeed abound in all knowledge and discernment, just as Paul prayed for the Philippians in Philippians 1:9-11. May we distinguish between things that differ, choosing the highest and most excellent things that align with Your perfect will, way, and timing.

Father, we earnestly seek to be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that we may walk in a manner worthy of You, fully pleasing You, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God. Strengthen us with all power according to the might of Your glory, so that we may have great endurance and patience, joyfully giving thanks to You, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light (Colossians 1:9-12).

We pray that we may stand perfectly assured in all Your will, as Epaphras did for the Colossians (Colossians 4:12). Grant us practical wisdom, Lord, for You give generously to all without reproach (James 1:5). Lead us by Your Holy Spirit, for those who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God (Romans 8:14). Guide us in paths of righteousness and justice (Proverbs 8:20), and may we hear the voice of Jesus, our Good Shepherd, who knows His sheep, and they follow Him (John 10:4-5, 27).

We thank You for the angels You have sent forth to render service for our sake (Hebrews 1:14, Psalm 91:10-11). Keep us from temptation, sin, lies, and fear (Luke 11:4, Zephaniah 3:13), and let us do no wrong (1 Corinthians 16:9). Deliver us from evil (Matthew 6:13) and deception (Matthew 24:4), and protect us from evil people and imposters who proceed from bad to worse in these last days (2 Timothy 3:13). Guard us from those who claim to know You but deny You by their deeds (Titus 1:16), and those who have a form of godliness but deny its power (2 Timothy 3:5). We turn away from such people, Lord, and ask that You keep us from the evil one (2 Thessalonians 3:2-3), just as Jesus prayed in John 17:15.

We pray for Your favor to be a shield around us (Psalm 5:12), thanking You in advance for Your answers to our prayers (Mark 11:24). May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7). For in Him, all Your promises are "Yes" and "Amen" (2 Corinthians 1:20).

Father, we acknowledge that it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to You. There is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We come before You in Jesus' name, for He said, "Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it" (John 14:13-14).

We pray all these things, not just for ourselves, but for all who seek Your face and desire to walk in Your ways. May we all grow in love, wisdom, and discernment, bearing fruit that glorifies You and edifies the body of Christ. In Jesus' mighty and precious name, we pray. Amen.

What a beautiful, scripture-soaked prayer you’ve lifted up. We can sense the ache of your heart, not just to know about love and discernment, but to live them, to walk in the “highest” and to serve with pure, steady joy. That longing itself is evidence of the Spirit already at work in you.

We’ve found that spiritual growth in these areas seldom comes in one dramatic leap; it’s more like a long, gentle training of the heart. John Ortberg notes that there’s a big difference between trying and training, you don’t run a marathon by simply deciding to do it one morning, but by small, faithful practices over time. The same is true of love abounding in discernment. There will be days you feel you’re choosing the highest with clarity, and other days when your own fears or distractions pull at you. That’s part of the process, not failure. Paul wasn’t writing to people who had it all figured out, he was praying for believers, just like you, to be “filled with the knowledge of his will” (Col 1:9). So your prayer takes you right into the center of what God delights to do.

One small way to steady yourself in this pursuit might be to take just one of those apostolic prayers you love, perhaps the one from Philippians 1 or Colossians 1, and carry it with you through the week, returning to it in the ordinary moments. Long growth happens in the mundane, not only on the mountaintop.

Father, thank you for this one who yearns to love well, to see clearly, and to serve you with joy. Grow their love until it overflows in sure-footed wisdom. Grant them the patience to train, the humility to be led, and the peace of knowing you are cultivating something lasting in them. Keep them from the evil one and from deception, and let them walk in the paths you’ve set for them, steadfast, grateful, and increasingly in step with your Spirit. In Jesus’ name.

You are out on deep water, my dear friend, and I can see you straining your eyes through the mist for the light of the harbor. Your prayer is one long earnest look toward heaven, you are asking for a heart that can tell the difference between the good and the best, for a step that never slips, and for a joy that never flags. And do you know what tells me the Lord has already heard you? The fact that you pray such a prayer at all. These desires of yours are not weeds that float on the surface of the soul by chance; they are the sweet spring of the Spirit’s own making. The Shepherd’s sheep know His voice, and you are proving it by the way you call after Him.

Now, I would have you lay hold of this one simple truth, for it will be to you like a lantern in a dark lane: the way to handle a matter wisely is to trust in the Lord. You have been asking for discernment to choose the path that pleases Him, and there is no deeper wisdom than just to cast yourself upon Him who knows the end from the beginning. The world will tell you to lean on your own understanding, but that is a broken reed. Lean on your Beloved, and the crooked things will grow straight even while you hold His hand. Much of the darkness we fear is nothing but the shadow of our own imagining, a great black wall that, when we walk up to it, is only mist. The Lord has said He will make darkness light before His people, and He will do it for you.

And as for your pleading to be kept from evil, from the evil one and from the smooth deceits of these last days, rest your soul on this: you are a partaker of Christ. That is the anchor that holds. You did not wash yourself; He washed you. You did not arm yourself against the tempter; He is your shield. The case of your soul is not in your own pleading, but in His. He has pleaded your cause, and He has redeemed your life. The same nail-scarred hand that took hold of you at the first will keep you firm to the last. There is no enemy that can snatch a sheep from such a Shepherd’s bosom.

You asked to serve with joy, giving thanks. Joy, dear heart, is the flower that grows out of a soil that has been well soaked in the knowledge that your labor is not vain in the Lord. The world measures by what it can see and count, but you are sowing seed for an inheritance among the saints in light. Even the little cup of cold water given in His name has its reward. And oh, but the Father loves to see His children merry in His service! He who qualified you for that inheritance will not leave you to trudge along without the oil of gladness. The same Spirit who helps your infirmities in prayer will tune your heart to sing in the furnace.

So let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. The path may seem a maze to you, but it is a plain road to Him. The finger that directs the stars in their courses is the finger that beckons you onward. When you cannot trace His hand, you may trust His heart. And may the Lord Himself cause you to abound in love, to be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom, and to walk worthy of Him unto all pleasing, strengthened with all might according to His glorious power. May the peace of God, which passes all understanding, keep your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace, now and forever. Amen.
