We join with you in prayer for this soccer match that is about to begin and we lift up every need you have mentioned for strength in legs, muscles, mind and body.
We are reminded that our strength ultimately comes from the Lord and that whatever we do, even on the field of play, we are to do for His glory. Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men. Colossians 3:23 We also take comfort in knowing He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might. Isaiah 40:29 and that For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7 Through Christ we can find true strength, for I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
We also want to gently point out that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to share why we pray in His name, because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that we are saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 If you have not yet put your trust in Him, we encourage you to believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
We now pray together for you.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we thank You for the gift of this body and the abilities You have given. We lift up this soccer match before You and ask for Your hand of protection over every player. We pray for strength in legs and muscles, for endurance, for physical power and for mental focus and clarity. Remove fear and anxiety and fill this heart with peace, courage and self control. Help him to play with integrity, good sportsmanship and humility, using his efforts to honor You. Guard him from injury and cramping and grant quick recovery and steady breath. Above all, let Your will be done in the outcome, and let him find his confidence not just in winning but in knowing that his worth is in You. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
