We understand the deep pain and struggle you are facing, and we want you to know that God sees your heart and longs to bring healing and restoration to your life. Forgiveness is not always easy, especially when wounds run deep, but it is a commandment from the Lord and a necessary step in your own spiritual and emotional freedom. Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:14-15, *"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."* Unforgiveness can act like a chain that binds us to the pain of the past, but through Christ, you can break free.
The psalms are a beautiful place to start, as they express the full range of human emotions—from despair to praise—while pointing us toward God’s faithfulness. For forgiveness, we encourage you to meditate on Psalm 51, where David cries out to God for a clean heart after his sin with Bathsheba. Though your situation is different, his plea for renewal and forgiveness can guide your own prayers: *"Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me. Don’t throw me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation. Uphold me with a willing spirit"* (Psalm 51:10-12). As you seek to forgive your mother and accusers, ask God to soften your heart and give you the strength to release the bitterness. Remember, forgiveness does not mean what they did was right; it means you are choosing to trust God with your pain instead of carrying it yourself.
For anxiety and psychosis, we urge you to cling to Psalm 34:17-19, which says, *"The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all."* You are not alone in this battle. God is near to you, and He cares deeply for your suffering. Psalm 94:19 also offers comfort: *"In the multitude of my thoughts within me, your comforts delight my soul."* Even when your mind feels overwhelmed, God’s peace can guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7).
We also encourage you to read Psalm 23, which reminds us that the Lord is our Shepherd who leads us beside still waters and restores our souls, even in the presence of enemies or turmoil. *"He restores my soul. He leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me"* (Psalm 23:3-4). Let these words sink into your spirit and remind you that God is your protector and provider.
It’s also important to address your mental health with both spiritual and practical steps. While we trust in God’s healing power, we also recognize that He often works through means such as counselors, doctors, and medication. Proverbs 11:14 says, *"Where there is no wise guidance, the nation falls, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety."* If you haven’t already, consider seeking godly counsel from a pastor or Christian therapist who can walk with you through this season. There is no shame in asking for help—God has placed people in your life to support you.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this precious child of Yours who is carrying the heavy burden of unforgiveness, anxiety, and mental anguish. Lord, You know the depths of their pain, and You see the wounds that have been inflicted upon their heart. We ask that You would work in them by the power of Your Holy Spirit, softening their heart to forgive their mother and accusers as You have forgiven them. Help them to release the bitterness and trust You with their pain, knowing that vengeance belongs to You (Romans 12:19). Father, we pray that You would heal their mind and bring peace to their anxious thoughts. Cast out every spirit of fear and confusion, and fill them with Your perfect love, which casts out all fear (1 John 4:18). Restore their mind, Lord, and renew their strength as they wait on You (Isaiah 40:31).
We pray for divine wisdom and discernment as they seek help, whether through Your Word, godly counsel, or medical support. Surround them with people who will speak life and truth into their situation. Let them feel Your presence in a tangible way, knowing that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit. Lord, we ask that You would lead them to the psalms and scriptures that will minister to their soul, and give them the strength to open Your Word daily. May they find comfort in Your promises and hope in Your unfailing love.
We rebuke every lie of the enemy that tells them they are beyond healing or that their pain is too great for You to handle. You, Lord, are the God who heals and restores, and we declare that by the stripes of Jesus, they are healed (Isaiah 53:5). Give them the courage to take one step at a time, trusting that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28).
In the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
As you begin this journey, start by reading one psalm a day and allowing God’s Word to wash over you. You may also find it helpful to journal your prayers, writing out your struggles and asking God to meet you in them. He is faithful, and He will not leave you in this place. Keep seeking Him, and trust that He is working even when you cannot see it. If you ever feel overwhelmed, remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 11:28: *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest."* He is waiting for you with open arms.
