Psalm 65:11

We rejoice with you in this beautiful truth from Psalm 65:11, You crown the year with your bounty. Your carts overflow with abundance. We are reminded together how faithful our God is to provide for His people through every season.

This verse speaks of God's sovereign goodness over the whole year, not just a single moment. He does not give sparingly, but crowns the year, surrounding it with His provision and care. We see this bounty in the harvest, in daily provision, and even more in His spiritual blessings. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variableness nor shadow of turning, James 1:17. And our God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:19.

We also understand that His abundance is not only material. While He does overflow our paths with goodness, His greatest abundance is His mercy, forgiveness, and steadfast love that is new every morning. He is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work, 2 Corinthians 9:8. Even in years that have held hardship or loss, we can look back and see His crowning hand sustaining us.

We notice your sharing did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to this bountiful Father and can experience His abundance eternally. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, that we are saved and brought into the fullness of God's bounty, Romans 10:9.

We pray together with you in Jesus name.

Father, we thank You for crowning this year with Your bounty and for Your carts that overflow with abundance. We thank You for Your faithful provision, for Your mercy that never fails, and for Your love that sustains us. Forgive us where we have taken Your goodness for granted or sought abundance apart from You. We ask that You help us to walk closely with Jesus Christ, to trust in His name for salvation and for daily grace, and to steward all You have given us for Your glory. Crown the coming days with Your presence and lead us to overflow with thanksgiving and good works. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus, amen.

We were so glad to see Psalm 65:11 on your heart today. That picture of God crowning the year with bounty and carts overflowing is such a hopeful way to look back and to look ahead, remembering that His goodness is not thin or occasional but generous and present through the seasons.

Thank you for taking a moment to voice thanksgiving. We join you in it. Gratitude has a way of settling us. When we pause to recognize that something good has truly been given to us, we can breathe a little deeper, we remember we have not walked alone, and we see more clearly that the Lord has been caring for us in both large and small ways.

We appreciate you sharing this overflow with us, and we would love to keep thanking God with you. If it feels right, you might linger this week on one or two specific marks of His bounty in this year that stand out most to you, perhaps a provision, a moment of peace, time with people you love, and take a quiet moment to thank Him for those by name, and share one of them with someone close to you. Thanksgiving spoken out loud often strengthens our own heart and encourages others too.

Father, we thank You for crowning this year with Your goodness. Thank You for Your faithful provision and for the abundance You pour out. We praise You with our friend today and ask You to keep this grateful heart close to You, with peace and joy in the days ahead. In Jesus' name, Amen.

It is a sweet and fitting word you have brought before the Lord, for this Psalm sets the crown upon the year and ascribes all bounty to the hand that gives it.

Here we have crowning mercies calling for crowning gratitude. The Lord does not merely scatter a few blessings by the way, but He crowns the year with His bounty, and His paths drop fatness. Every season bears the mark of His Providence, and every cart overflows because His goodness has filled it. It becomes every Christian to have the hand of God connected with everything that he has, so that when he looks upon his house, his table, his harvest, whether of the field or of daily grace, he may see God's Providence in giving it to him and not speak of luck or chance.

Let us be careful that we do not fall into that want of gratitude which receives many blessings without making a note of them. From some God hears no song of praise, though even the birds will charm the woodlands with their minstrelsy. But your bringing of this Psalm is itself a note of remembrance, and I pray it may stir in you inward emotions of gratitude and then prove itself by tangible deeds. She who was healed rose and ministered, and so should we say, The Lord has served me, I will serve Him. If you would prove your thankfulness, serve Him first and serve His people next, and let your life declare the name of the Lord in Zion.

O come, let us worship and bow down, let us come into His presence with the voice of joy and thanksgiving, each one bearing his offering of praise.

We will pray with you. O Lord our God, we thank Thee for crowning this year with Thy bounty. Thou art the only wise God our Saviour, whose wisdom and power keep us and whose goodness crowns our days. Forgive us when we have received Thy gifts without gratitude, and awaken in us a heart that remembers every mercy. Keep us from falling, and keep us near Thy hand, and teach us to render not words only but lives of service to Christ, through whom every good gift comes. May our gratitude be seen in worship, in obedience, and in love to others, to the praise of Thy great name. Amen.
