Psalm 34:18

We are so thankful you shared Psalm 34:18 with us, for it reminds us of a precious truth that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. We do not know what burden has brought this verse to your heart, but we stand with you in it and we take comfort together that God does not distance Himself from our pain, He draws close to it.

We know what it is to feel brokenhearted and crushed in spirit, and scripture assures us that we are not abandoned in that place. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3. He says to us, Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. And Jesus Himself invites us, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28. This closeness is not distant or theoretical, it is personal and present, and He saves those who are crushed, not by ignoring their pain but by carrying it with them.

We notice your request does not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share why His name matters so much to us. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and experience this nearness in its fullness. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. The brokenhearted are not saved by their own strength or by merely knowing a beautiful verse, but by trusting in the One who was broken for us. If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. So we encourage you, if you have not already, to call upon the name of Jesus Christ in your pain, to confess your need for Him as Savior and Lord, and to bring your crushed spirit directly to Him in prayer.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We lift up this dear one who is holding onto Psalm 34:18 and we ask You to make Your nearness real to them today. Lord, You see every tear, You know every wound that has left their heart broken and their spirit crushed. We ask You to heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds, to give them rest as they come to Jesus, and to uphold them with Your righteous right hand. Draw them close to Yourself, remind them that they are not alone and not forgotten, and save them and sustain them by Your grace. Lead them to trust fully in Jesus as their Savior, to know the forgiveness and peace that comes only through Him, and to walk in the comfort of Your Holy Spirit. We ask that You turn this season of crushing into a testimony of Your redeeming love. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to stay in the Word, to pour out your heart honestly before the Lord in prayer, and to bring your burdens to Jesus daily. He is close, He hears, and He saves. If you are walking through grief, disappointment, loneliness, or any crushing circumstance, please keep sharing your heart with us so we can continue to pray with you and point you to the hope we have in Christ.

We are holding your request with care. Sharing that verse tells us you are in a tender, brokenhearted place, and we want you to know we are praying for you right there.

Grief is such a personal and unique experience. No two people walk through it the same way, even when the loss looks similar from the outside. It is a natural response to losing someone or something dear, and it touches every part of life. It is not a straight line or a set of steps to get through quickly, but a slow process of reorganizing your inner and outer world around what has changed, mourning the bond as it was, and gradually learning how to carry it forward.

Please give yourself permission to grieve at your own pace without comparing your journey to anyone else's. One gentle next step that often helps is not carrying it in isolation. When you feel able, consider sharing a little of what you are carrying with one safe person this week, whether a pastor, a trusted friend, or a small group in your church. You do not have to have words for everything, just letting someone sit with you in it can ease some of the loneliness.

Father, we lift this dear one to You who sees the crushed spirit and stays near. Wrap them in Your comfort, give them rest when the waves of sorrow come, and surround them with caring people who will listen well. Lead them day by day with Your wisdom and peace. In Jesus' name, amen.

Amen! Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

““But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

There is faithful mercy in the verse you have laid hold upon, for the Lord is indeed close to the brokenhearted and He saves those who are crushed in spirit. This is not a distant promise but a present truth, that when the heart is aching and the spirit is bruised, God draws near.

You are not forgotten, and you are not cut off from healing. The Word says, comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God, and He speaks this not only by the bright winged seraph but by His own people comforting one another and by His own presence. When He would comfort His own, He quickens them by His Word. This is my comfort in my affliction, for Thy Word hath quickened me. Take your Bible then as your comfort in this affliction, not as a book far off, but as this present comfort pressed to your bosom, for the external comfort of the Christian is the Word of God and the internal comfort is the Spirit working through it to give you life again.

Look also to Christ Himself, for there is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. The leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. His very leaves shall not wither, and they change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. You say, I am sick at heart, may I dare to partake of it. You may, for He invites the sick at heart to come. When the Sun of Righteousness rises with healing in His wings, pardon and healing are one, and He says, Son, be of good cheer, thy sins are forgiven thee.

Despair in such a case is not warranted, for God is the sinner's hope and no man has a just pretense to perish in despair. To despair is to insult God who is able to save, and to degrade yourself below what He intends for you. You are not cut off for your parts from every hope and comfort while Christ lives and His Word stands.

May the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God even our Father who hath loved us, comfort your heart and establish you in every good word and work. May He not only give you comfort alone, but constancy with it, that you may be kept and quickened. May He teach you to say, this Word hath quickened me, and may you find that your warfare is accomplished and your iniquity pardoned, for you have received of the Lord's hand grace for grace. Though your day has darkened, God remains and God appears, and He is nigh unto you even now.

We pray that the Lord will draw very near to you in this brokenness, that He will heal you by the leaves of that blessed Tree, that He will quicken you by His Word, and that you will know the salvation which is through Jesus Christ alone, who is our only hope and our healing.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The verse you have shared is true and it is for you in this very hour. The Lord is indeed close to the brokenhearted and He does not overlook those who are crushed in spirit. Your heavenly Father knows what you need and what you carry, and He draws near not to condemn but to comfort and to save.

In times when the heart is straightened by affliction, we are called to exhort one another with gentleness and to be patient toward all. Do not despair and do not cease to hope. As long as it is still called Today, there is hope and there is time to turn to Him and to be renewed. The enemy would have you believe that your pain is the end of the story, but God who loved us has given us eternal comfort and good hope through grace in Jesus Christ alone.

My prayer for you is that God Himself will comfort your heart and establish you in every good work and word, so that you will not be shaken. May He give you strength to endure with patience, knowing that even affliction can work for comfort and salvation as you trust Him. Hold fast to the hope that is not yet seen, for the promise of life in Christ is sure, and what He has promised for the future He will surely fulfill. He has not brought the axe to the root to cut you down, but to call you to bring forth good fruit by His grace.

May the Lord lift your spirit, heal what is broken, and keep you steadfast in faith and in hope until you know His peace more fully.

The words you quoted from Psalm 34:18 are true for you right now. When the heart is broken and the spirit is crushed, the Lord does not draw back. He draws near. He is not distant from your pain, He is close to you in it.

Scripture calls Him the God of all comfort. That means He is the one who comes alongside in the darkest hours to strengthen, to encourage, and to speak peace. The apostle Paul knew this. In his afflictions, in seasons when he was troubled on every side and fearful within, and even on that long storm at sea when for many days there was no sun, the Lord stood by him and comforted him. That same comfort is for you. For those who are going through hard places and dark nights, He stands by to comfort and to sustain.

Part of His comfort comes through His presence that you can actually experience, and part comes through His Word. What was written before was written for our learning, so that through patience and comfort of the Scriptures we might have hope. As you see in the Bible how patient God is and how He has always kept His promises and always come through for His people, it gives you reason to hope that He will come through for you and meet your need.

He is also the God who heals, and I want to encourage you about that without putting any burden on you. There are many kinds of healing. Sometimes healing comes instantly and you can feel it happen. Sometimes it comes gradually through the natural processes God Himself built into our bodies, which is still His divine work. Sometimes the healing He does first is in the mind and the emotions, mending the deep wounds and scars inside. Jesus bore our infirmities and our sicknesses, and He has power to heal, but healing is a sovereign work of God. It is not right for anyone to heap guilt on you if relief does not come at once or in the way you expect. Your grief is real and weighty, and God knows its weight. He has compassion on those who mourn.

You do not have to carry this alone. Bring your broken heart honestly to Jesus. Ask Him to make His nearness real to you, to comfort you by His Spirit, and to give you patience and hope through His Word day by day. He comforts those who are cast down and discouraged, and He does so in order that you may know His love more deeply and later be able to share that same comfort with others.

I am praying for you, that you will sense the Lord standing near you now, holding you in this crushed place, giving you strength for today and hope for what is ahead, and bringing healing to your heart in His perfect way and time.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer and for sharing the promise of Psalm 34:18 with us. We have been lifting you up and praying that you will know in a deep and personal way that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. We are asking God to draw near to you, to comfort your heart and to bring healing and peace where there has been brokenness. If your request was answered please post a praise report and let us all know so we can rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered and you are still feeling crushed in spirit please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We are praying that you will feel the nearness of the Lord each day. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ. We pray this in Jesus Name Amen.
