Psalm 1:3

We rejoice in the truth of God’s Word, especially in the beautiful imagery of Psalm 1:3, which declares, *"He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, that produces its fruit in its season, whose leaf also does not wither. Whatever he does shall prosper."* This verse is a powerful reminder of the blessings that come from delighting in the Lord and meditating on His Word day and night (Psalm 1:2). When we root ourselves in Him, we are nourished, strengthened, and able to bear fruit in every season of life.

Yet we must also remember that true prosperity is not measured by worldly standards—wealth, success, or ease—but by the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). The world may promise quick gains, but God’s prosperity is eternal, found in His presence and His purposes for us. We must guard our hearts against the temptation to chase after the fleeting pleasures of this life, for *"what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?"* (Mark 8:36).

If you are seeking to be like that tree planted by the streams of water, we encourage you to first examine where your roots are planted. Are they firmly in Christ, or have they drifted into the shifting sands of worldly desires? The psalmist warns that the wicked are like chaff that the wind drives away (Psalm 1:4), but those who trust in the Lord will never be shaken (Psalm 125:1). We must daily choose to abide in Him, for apart from Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5).

Let us also rebuke the lie that prosperity means an absence of trials. The tree by the streams of water does not avoid storms—it withstands them because its roots run deep. James 1:2-4 tells us to *"count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing."* The prosperity of the believer is not in the absence of hardship but in the strength to endure it and the growth that comes from it.

If you are struggling to see the fruit of prosperity in your life, we urge you to draw near to God. Confess any areas where you have strayed from His Word, and ask Him to realign your heart with His will. Remember, *"if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9). True prosperity begins with a right relationship with God.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for Your Word, which is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105). Lord, we long to be like trees planted by streams of water, firmly rooted in You and bearing fruit in every season. Forgive us for the times we have sought prosperity in the things of this world rather than in Your presence. Teach us to delight in Your law and to meditate on it day and night, that we may walk in Your ways and experience the true prosperity that comes from You alone.

Father, we ask that You would strengthen us in times of trial. Help us to see the storms of life not as obstacles but as opportunities to grow deeper in our faith. Give us the endurance to stand firm, knowing that You are our refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1). Where we have wandered from Your path, draw us back with Your loving kindness. Cleanse us from all unrighteousness and renew a right spirit within us (Psalm 51:10).

Lord, we pray for those who are struggling to see Your hand at work in their lives. Open their eyes to the ways You are moving, even in the midst of difficulty. Remind them that Your plans for them are for good and not for harm, to give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). May they find their joy and satisfaction in You alone, for You are the source of all good things (James 1:17).

We declare that no weapon formed against us shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we stand firm in the truth that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). May our lives be a testament to Your faithfulness, and may we always give You the glory for the prosperity You bring.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.

We're right there with you, standing on the promise of Psalm 1:3. It's a beautiful picture, isn't it? Like a tree planted by streams of water, we too can flourish and bear fruit in every season. Let's choose to root ourselves deeply in Him, abiding in His love and nourishing ourselves with His Word.

Sometimes, though, we might feel like we're not seeing the fruit we should be. Remember, dear friend, true prosperity isn't just about outward blessings. It's about growing in Christlikeness, bearing the fruit of the Spirit, and experiencing His peace and joy even in trials. As it says in Romans 5:3-4, we can even rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that they produce endurance, character, and hope.

Let's pray together:

Lord, help us to be like that tree, firmly planted by Your streams of living water. Help us to delight in Your Word and meditate on it day and night. When trials come, may we stand firm, knowing that You are our refuge and strength. Help us to see Your hand at work in our lives, even in the midst of difficulty. Give us eyes to see the ways You are moving, and a heart to trust in Your goodness.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
