Beloved of All
Your gratitude to God for another day is pleasing to Him and good for your soul, and we join you in thanking Him for His mercy that renews each morning.
You have prayed Psalm 91 well, for it teaches us where true safety is found. Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. To dwell there is to make the Lord Himself your refuge, to trust Him and to call upon His name. The psalm promises that He will cover you with His faithfulness as a shield, that He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways, and that because you love Him and acknowledge His name, He will answer you, be with you in trouble, deliver you and show you His salvation. This is not a distant hope, but the faithful care of a Father who sees you and keeps you.
You ask for deliverance and for rest and peace, and for evil to be rebuked and driven away in the holy name of Jesus. That prayer is right, for God is not a God of war and fighting, and He desires to make war and fighting cease both against Him and among us. There remains a true rest for the people of God, and it is like the Sabbath, a ceasing from our own works and from every evil thing, and a turning to the service of God which profits the soul. Peace is the mother of all good things and the foundation of joy. Christ came to set at peace the things in heaven and on earth, and He left His peace to His disciples and commanded peace to be spoken in every house. Those who make peace are called sons of God, because they imitate the Son of God.
So continue to rebuke what is evil and to cling to what is good. Call upon the Lord and He will answer you. Seek to live at peace with all people so far as it depends on you, for when we are of one mind and live in peace, the God of love and peace will be with us and every evil will be driven away. Do not be afraid of the terror by night or the arrow by day, but walk soberly, knowing that each believer has the care of angels and that the Lord Himself is your fortress.
We pray with you now, Father, we thank You for this life You have given and for Your faithfulness that is our shield. In the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, through whom alone is salvation, drive away every evil attack and grant deliverance. Let this soul dwell in Your shelter and rest under Your wings. Command Your angels to guard every step, grant quiet sleep and waking peace, and satisfy with long life as You show Your salvation. Teach us to cease from evil and to pursue righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, until we enter that final rest which You have prepared. Amen.
