Proverbs, Chapter 23

23:1 When you sit to eat with a ruler, Consider diligently him who is before you;

23:2 And put a knife to your throat, If you are a man given to appetite.

23:3 Don't be desirous of his dainties; Seeing they are deceitful food.

23:4 Don't weary yourself to be rich; Cease from your own wisdom.

23:5 Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For [riches] certainly make themselves wings, Like an eagle that flies toward heaven.

23:6 Don't eat the bread of him who has an evil eye, Neither desire his dainties:

23:7 For as he thinks inside himself, so he is: Eat and drink, he says to you; But his heart is not with you.

23:8 The morsel which you have eaten you will vomit up, And lose your sweet words.

23:9 Don't speak in the hearing of a fool; For he will despise the wisdom of your words.

23:10 Don't remove the ancient landmark; And don't enter into the fields of the fatherless:

23:11 For their Redeemer is strong; He will plead their cause against you.

23:12 Apply your heart to instruction, And your ears to the words of knowledge.

23:13 Do not withhold correction from the child; [For] if you beat him with the rod, he will not die.

23:14 You will beat him with the rod, And will deliver his soul from Sheol.

23:15 My son, if your heart be wise, My heart will be glad, even mine:

23:16 Yes, my heart will rejoice, When your lips speak right things.

23:17 Don't let your heart envy sinners; But [be] in the fear of Yahweh all the day long:

23:18 For surely there is a reward; And your hope will not be cut off.

23:19 Hear, my son, and be wise, And guide your heart in the way.

23:20 Don't be among winebibbers, Among gluttonous eaters of flesh:

23:21 For the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty; And drowsiness will clothe [a man] with rags.

23:22 Listen to your father who begot you, And don't despise your mother when she is old.

23:23 Buy the truth, and don't sell it; [Yes,] wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

23:24 The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; And he who begets a wise child will have joy of him.

23:25 Let your father and your mother be glad, And let her who bore you rejoice.

23:26 My son, give me your heart; And let your eyes delight in my ways.

23:27 For a prostitute is a deep ditch; And a foreign woman is a narrow pit.

23:28 Yes, she lies in wait as a robber, And increases the betrayers among man.

23:29 Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaining? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes?

23:30 Those who tarry long at the wine; Those who go to seek out mixed wine.

23:31 Don't look on the wine when it is red, When it sparkles in the cup, When it goes down smoothly:

23:32 At the last it bites like a serpent, And stings like an adder.

23:33 Your eyes will see strange things, And your heart will utter perverse things.

23:34 Yes, you will be as he who lies down in the midst of the sea, Or as he who lies on the top of a mast.

23:35 They have stricken me, [you will say], and I was not hurt; They have beaten me, and I did not feel it: When shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strenght... they shall walk and not faint. Isa 40.31 Let us all wait upon Him who died on the cross for each one of us and be faithful to the end. Because He is coming so soon and He will give His reward to those who have done His will and obeyed His commands. Do not weary yourself to be rick. Proverbs 23.4 If riches and glory of this world you are pursuing then you are far away from God and riches and glory of this earth will get you so frustrated and alone that you will cry to God when the devil is on your foot steps. You cannot serve two masters. Either you will love one and hate the other. You cannot serve God and money. So, let us decide whom we shall serve. Dear God, show us your way to follow each and every single day of our lives. We have nothing to keep in this world. Only the souls we have won for Jesus and the eternal word of God in our hearts and souls will reach heaven.

What are you doing for Jesus today?  Or in the future. What would you do for God?  There are so many things God want to use you.  Be a Sunday school teacher. Be a counselor to those kids that are in skid row or you could become a preacher. Anything that you do for God will last a lifetime and eternity. Those who are being touched by your teachings will come to know Jesus and they will get saved and you will have an eternal reward in heaven. Start thinking today. What I should do for God now and in the future?  Remember He is waiting for you to do something great for Jesus. Prov. 29.19  Hear my son, and be wise. Guide your heart in the way.  Lord Jesus, my ears are way open to hear what you want me to hear. My heart is all yours. Please show me what to do and what to say.  Use me Lord Jesus for your glory and honor.  In your wonderful name. Amen

The precious Holy Spirit takes beyond hearing with your ears but touches your heart and makes you a new person to be used by God and to serve others in whatever position there is. Hear what God wants you to do and obey right away because Jonah the prophet heard Gods voice and tried to scape from the commandments of God and trouble came to him.  It is better to obey than to sacrifice. Do not be desirios of his dainties. Prov. 23.3 Let us desire nothing but to do Gods will. If you desire anything form this world you will be frustrated. But if you desire to serve Jesus with your whole heart, you will certainly find hapiness, peace and joy in this life and the next one.

Beloved, we are Gods children and if anyone tells you that we come from monkeys is from the devil and you must flee from those thoughts that deminish our existence and devalues our being as a child of an everlasting God. You are chosen, adopted in Gods family. redeemed, forgiven sealed. Eph. 14.16 What a wonderful hope we have one beautiful day going up to heaven to see our heavenly Father and tell Him how much we love Him and want to be with Him for ever and ever. That will be a blessed thought in our daily existence. Hear the voice of the Lord. My son, give me your heart. And let your eyes delight in my ways. Proverbs 23.26 Yes Lord Jesus. I am giving all of my heart to you and to your service. May my eyes delight in nature, in saved souls that need to see Jesus, and for loved ones to get saved. This we pray in Jesus precious name. Amen

God can help you overcome the chronic business and worry about work, food, clothing, cars, new houses and everything else that takes away from prayer and reading of the word of God. NO wonder a lot of people are so stressed and anxious for nothing at all. More money in the bank, more houses to buy, more cars to drive and more of everything else will not give you hapiness. Instead you will have more worries. Someone will steal something. May be a person will take away all your money. Women are gold diggers they say and you worry they will take away everything you have. Trust Jesus, Wait on Him. He will give you direction in your life.  Emptiness, loneliness and forsakeness are the core center of all the riches and glory of this earth. NO wonder those actors, football players and the rich and famous are adicted to drugs, alcohol and everything else to take away their pain. Only Jesus can give peace of heart and joy of life. He is our Creator and want us all to be joyful and at peace with others. God is telling us. Hear my son, be wise. And guide your heart in the way. Prov. 23.19  Are you gona hear what God is saying to you today???

Your people shall be my people and your God my God. Ruth 1.16 There will be a times where we have to depart from each other and there are times that we cannot leave the other hanging aroung with no help at all. Specially the elderly and those who are in retirement homes need our help and read them the bible. These elderly people need Gods grace in their lives and if we do not go and visit them then we are not doing Gods will. He told us to visit the sick. Ussually the elderly are sick and cannot cook for themselves. Please help someone around or ask the church members to do go and visit the sick. Yes, my heart will rejoice when your lips will speak right things. Proverbs 23.16 Let us all make Gods heart rejoice when He hears that we are reading the bible to the sick in our neighborhood, in our cities and even in the country side. Blessed Jesus, help us to speak the right things and to be a blessing to many we can find in the streets and everywhere else we go. In Jesua name. Amen

What a wonderful chapter. I love the verse... Let your father and mother be glad. Prov. 23.25.  I want to honor my mother and my father so my days on the earth will be long. One of the ten commandments tells us to honor them specially when they are old and feeble. Help them when they are weak and are not able to work. Provide for their needs. God will reward you greatly.

Draw night to God and He will draw night to you. His promises are true and if you spend time in prayer and fasting God will be by your side when pain strucks your heart. When troubles will come He will be a shield and a confot to your heart. Lord Jesus be near our heart when we worship you in spirit and in truth.  For the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty. Prov. 23.21a  A lot of people have finantial problems because they spend their hard earned money on drinking parties and on jewelry, cosmetics expensive watches and fur coats.  Those items are very expensive so let us all hear what the word of God is telling us. The drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty. Do you want to have victory over finantial problems?  Well, then start saving and giving tithes and oferings to God and He will bless you greatly.
