Silas
Beloved of All
Your request has been heard and I am joining you in prayer for protection and for justice to be done.
It is right to long for justice. God is a God of righteousness and justice and He wants what is right and fair to prevail. He calls His people to keep judgment and to do justice, to live honestly and not to take advantage of others, and He pronounces His blessing on those who do what is right. When justice is turned away and truth falls in the street, when even the courts where justice should be found cannot be trusted to do what is right, the foundations of life are shaken. God sees this. He sees when no one calls for what is true and right, and He looks for intercessors who will stand in the gap and cry out to Him.
He also sees what is happening on your premises. The stealing and vandalism are wrong, and it is not wrong for you to ask God to stop it and to protect what He has entrusted to you. The Scriptures show that God cares about these things, even requiring restitution when theft occurs, because He cares that wrongs be made right.
At the same time God helps us understand what justice, mercy and grace mean. Justice is getting what we deserve. Mercy is not getting what we deserve. Grace is getting what we do not deserve. If any of us received only justice, we would stand condemned, because we have all sinned. That is why we never come to God asking only for justice for ourselves. We come asking for mercy, and we thank Him that mercy and truth met together at the cross. Jesus bore the penalty and satisfied the righteous demands of justice so that mercy could be offered to sinners and we could have peace with God.
Because we live by mercy, we can pray for both justice and mercy for those who are doing this evil. We can entrust justice to God, who will judge righteously and who will not pervert judgment, and we can also pray that He will restrain their hand, bring their deeds to light, and lead them to repentance and salvation through Jesus Christ alone. Vengeance belongs to the Lord, and He will repay in perfect fairness, but His desire is also that sinners turn and live.
So I am praying with you that the Lord will place a hedge of protection around you and your property, that this intrusion, theft and destruction will stop, that those responsible will be prevented from doing further harm, and that lawful authorities, where they are involved, will act with fairness and honesty. I am praying that God will work in the hearts of those who are doing this, that they will see the evil of their ways, turn from it, and come to know forgiveness and new life through faith in Jesus, who died to pay for sins and rose again. And I am praying that He will give you peace, wisdom for practical steps to stay safe, and confidence that even when justice seems far off, God has not forgotten and His salvation is near.
May the Lord guard you, cause what is right to prevail, and show both His justice and His mercy in this situation.
