Protection

Your heartfelt prayers for your family have been received with care, and the love you have for your children and your desire to see them walk closely with the Lord is evident. It is good that you are bringing every detail before the Father, from the broken air conditioner and the practical comfort of your home to the deepest needs of each child's heart and future.

God hears the cry for protection over your home, your minds and bodies, and the peace that goes beyond understanding. Scripture promises that when we bring our requests to Him, His peace will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. He has promised to be with His people as they walk in obedience to Him, as He promised to be with Jacob when He called him to return to his family and his land. You can step out each day on that same promise, that He is with you, that He encamps around those who fear Him, and that He gives wisdom and rest even in uncomfortable circumstances. Ask Him for daily grace for the heat, for sleep, for calm in your home, and trust Him to provide.

At the center of all of these prayers is your relationship with God Himself. The first and most important relationship is the vertical one with Him. When that relationship is right, every other relationship begins to find its proper place. If the center is out of order, every other bond becomes strained. The Lord does not want a cold legal arrangement with you. He wants a loving relationship where you know how deeply He loves you. Through faith in Jesus Christ you have been adopted into His family. Jesus alone is the only begotten Son of the Father, full of grace and truth. We become sons and daughters not by that same begotten nature, but by adoption and by being born again of the Spirit. That adoption is a great gift. It means your worth and your children's worth is found in Christ alone, not in the approval of other people.

That truth is especially important as you pray for your son. You are asking for healing, calm, joy and freedom from painful memories and rigid patterns, and for his caregiver to have patience and grace. The Lord is compassionate and He does heal, and by the wounds of Jesus healing has been provided. At the same time Scripture shows that God does not always bring instant physical healing in every case in this life, as we see even with faithful companions of the apostles who were left with ongoing weakness. This does not mean we stop praying. We keep asking for miraculous restoration, for peace of mind, gentleness and satisfaction to be renewed in him, and for his surroundings to be filled with protection and love, while trusting the Lord's perfect timing and will and resting in His grace day by day.

For your daughters you have prayed for favor at work, for study, for health and for godly friendships. It is right to ask that they would work efficiently without being overworked or exhausted, that they would be lights for Christ where He has placed them, and that they would be surrounded by uplifting companions who encourage their faith. Continue to pray that the younger one will have clear wisdom to say no to any move or commitment that would harm her health, overwhelm the responsibilities God has already entrusted to her, or bring financial hardship. God gives wisdom generously when we ask, and He honors the courage to stand firm in what is right.

For your older daughter the situation you describe needs to be addressed with both love and truth. Living together outside of marriage is not marriage and does not carry the covenant rights or responsibilities of marriage. Scripture teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and that sexual union and sharing a home in that way belongs within that covenant. For that reason we cannot ask God to bless that arrangement as it is. What we can and do pray is that the Lord in His loving kindness would draw her to repentance and to a life of purity that honors Him, that He would restore her spiritual clarity, independence, gratitude and faith, and that every ungodly tie and controlling influence would be broken. When a young man delights in a young woman but is not ready to take on the responsibility of a godly marriage, and when his behavior is disrespectful, manipulative and divisive, and when another family oversteps the bounds of parental authority with pride and manipulation, that influence is harmful. Scripture warns how easily a polluted environment can touch a family, and how an ungodly influence, even from a mother figure, can lead a young person away from what is good. We see this pattern when Lot lived in a corrupt city and his family was deeply affected, and when a young ruler was led into evil by the counsel of his ungodly household. God knows how to deliver the righteous from such pressures and to reserve what is ungodly for His judgment. Pray that your daughter will see that obedience is owed to the Lord, not to a boyfriend, that she will not idolize or mimic rebellious behavior, and that she will put Christ, her family, her health and her calling before that relationship. If it is not the Lord's will for them to be married, pray that the Lord would completely remove that control and block every scheme to divide your family. If it could be His will in the future, then it must begin with both coming to salvation through Jesus Christ alone and pursuing purity and counsel in the Lord, not with cohabitation.

Your prayer to rebuke jealousy, spite and manipulative spirits is understood. The clearest biblical way to stand against the enemy is to submit yourselves to God, resist the devil and he will flee, and to put on the full armor of God that He has provided. No weapon formed against you shall prosper when you are abiding in Him. Ask the Lord to frustrate every plan to bring division, isolation and chaos, to guard every door and window of your home not by a formula but by His own presence and by the ministry of His angels as He wills, and to fill your home with kindness, pure thoughts and actions guided by His Spirit.

Nothing is impossible with God, as the angel told Mary. He is able to bring healing, restoration and breakthrough where things seem broken. Pray that your home would be covered by His grace, that your hearts would be united in love, peace, respect and understanding, and that an unbreakable, respectful bond would grow between you and your children as each of you keeps Christ at the center. May the Lord saturate you and your son with His peace and joy, grant you all overflowing blessing, and make your lives a testimony of His light to everyone who enters your home.
