Beloved of All
Your prayer for your family has been heard and we join with you in bringing these burdens before the Lord Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father and salvation.
We thank God with you for the gift of each new day and for His mercy that watches over your home and your children. We pray that the Lord will cover your household with His peace, the peace that surpasses all understanding, and guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. We ask that He will keep you and your children from harm, from fear and confusion, and from every spiritual attack, and that He will give you wisdom to walk in His ways and to make choices that honor Him. We ask for His protection over every part of your home and for His grace to fill your words and actions with kindness, purity and love.
We lift up your son to the Lord. We know that healing belongs to God and that Christ suffered for us so that we might be made whole. We pray with you for his healing and restoration, for calmness and gentleness and joy in his daily life, and for grace and patience for his caregiver. We pray that faith in Christ will grow in him and in you, for the Lord honors a trusting heart and draws near to those who look to Him in faith.
We pray also for the bond between you and your children. Scripture teaches that our truest family relationship is not only of blood but of the Spirit, when we walk in obedience and love toward God and toward one another. As Christ is the Son over His own house, so we become members of His house when we hold fast to Him and live as children of God in character, showing gentleness, patience and respect. We pray that God will strengthen such a godly, loving and respectful bond among you, and mend what has been broken in a way that is peaceful and pleasing to Him.
We pray especially for your older daughter. You have spoken rightly that living together outside of marriage is not marriage and does not carry the covenant, rights or responsibilities of marriage. God has given marriage as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and He has reserved sexual union and living together as husband and wife for within that covenant. For this reason we cannot ask God to bless a cohabiting relationship as if it were marriage, but we do pray for your daughter with love and concern. We pray that the Lord will give her spiritual clarity, wisdom and courage to see His truth, to value her worth in Christ alone, and to make godly choices that honor Him, her family, her health and her future. We pray that every ungodly tie and controlling influence will be broken, that she will not follow a path of rebellion or manipulation, and that she will be freed from any pressure to obey or idolize a man who is not her husband. We pray that the young man will act responsibly and step back, and that if he is not ready for marriage, there will be a swift and peaceful separation so that both may seek the Lord and pursue purity. We pray also concerning his mother, that boundaries will be respected and that your daughter will look to her own family who loves her and has raised her in the ways of the Lord, rather than to ungodly guidance.
We lift up your younger daughter as she begins her orientation for school. We pray that God will grant her health, focus and success in her studies and work, surround her with godly friendships, and guard her from jealousy, negativity and confusion. We pray the same for your older daughter in her workplace, that God will give her favor, integrity and gratitude, and protect her job and finances as she walks in His will.
We join you in rebuking what is evil and clinging to what is good, asking the Lord to frustrate every plan that would bring division, isolation and chaos into your family, and to fill your home with His light, love, fellowship and joy. May your home be a place where Christ is honored, where forgiveness and respect abound, and where each person grows in faith.
Continue to bring all these things to the Lord in prayer, trusting not in our own strength but in the love of God shown in giving His Son for us when we were still sinners. He who did not spare His own Son will surely care for those who are now His friends through faith. Hold fast to Christ, encourage one another daily, and seek to be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect, showing love even to those who wrong you. The Lord is able to restore, to heal and to lead you into all that is good for your family according to His will.
