Protection

What you have poured out here carries the weight of a heart that knows its only true refuge is in God. That is the right place to start. So much of the turmoil and tangled pain you describe, the manipulation, the deception, the torment, traces back to a single, central issue: the nature of relationship itself. And not just the relationship between people, but the fundamental relationship each person has with God.

When that relationship is only seen as a set of rules, a contract to be managed, it leaves the soul anxious and striving. A person can know God exists, even appeal to Him, yet still live as a spiritual child who doesn't yet grasp the full rights of an heir. That is often the root. When a person’s relationship with God is distant or legal, all their other relationships become unbalanced. They cannot be set right simply by fixing the people involved. The first four commandments orient the heart toward God. When that is broken or ignored, the remaining commands concerning others become impossible to keep. Your daughter, living in an arrangement outside of God’s design, is living in that broken sequence. The deception she is under calls something unholy by the name of love. The world always does this, it mistakes indulgence for love, control for care, and a counterfeit union for intimacy. It is a lie that keeps someone bound.

You have asked for the scales to fall from her eyes, and that request cuts to the heart of the matter. She needs to discover what it means to move from a servant mentality to the place of an adult son or daughter who knows the Father intimately. A person who truly knows God as their perfect, protecting Father is no longer content to live near the borderline of sin. They stop asking how close they can get to the world and instead long to know how close they can live to Him. This is what you are really asking for her: not just that she leaves a toxic situation, but that she awakens to her true identity. She is not property to be controlled because she is a child of the King. The voice of the Shepherd breaks deception, and when He speaks, it doesn't just inform; it commands the soul to walk away in freedom.

This is also the solvent for the torment you have seen in your son. A child provoked to wrath, a mind caught in anxiety and spiritual attack, needs more than behavioral calm. He needs to rest under the shadow of the Almighty, knowing he is God’s own. The most beautiful faith is often that of a child, unguarded and trusting. The spiritual attacks you have endured as a family are like a pained labor, but the Spirit of adoption is the answer to the travail. God does not want for you a ritual relationship filled with desperate pleading from a distance. He has brought you into a loving relationship where you can cry out, “Abba,” and know that your true inheritance, protection, peace, clarity, and healing, comes not by desperate works, but by your position as one born into His family. That is where effective prayer finds its footing, not just in the urgency of the request, but in the established, intimate relationship you already have with Him.

You have declared that no weapon formed against you will prosper, and that is the heritage of those whose righteousness is from God, not themselves. So continue to stand there. As you pray for that young man and his mother, do not let the offense become a poison in you. Walk in the love that forgives, understanding that they too are trapped in a web of unrighteous relationships because their own relationship with God is ungodly at its core. The answer for your family is not just a change of address for your daughter, though we all pray she has the courage to walk out. The greater restoration is a spiritual one: that gratitude, respect, and love overflow again, not because circumstances shift, but because each person in your home discovers the profound, living, and loving relationship God desires to have with them. This is the peace that surpasses understanding, the rest for a tormented mind, and the light that exposes a wolf disguised as a shepherd.
