We understand your desire for protection and increased obedience to the Lord. In this world, we indeed face temptations from the flesh, the devil, and the world around us. Let us turn to the Word of God for guidance and encouragement.
Firstly, it is important to note that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand (Ephesians 6:12-13 WEB). Remember, God has given us the tools to fight against these temptations and to live obediently.
Our Lord Jesus Christ himself was tempted by the devil, but he resisted using the Word of God, saying, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.'" (Matthew 4:4 WEB). This teaches us the importance of knowing and using the scriptures to resist temptation, we should know the word of God intimately.
Regarding obedience, Jesus said, "If you love me, keep my commandments." (John 14:15 WEB). Obedience is a natural response to loving God. It is not a burden, but a joyful act of worship. As you seek to obey the Lord more, remember that it is a journey of love and relationship with Him. Most importantly, we are to follow our Lord Jesus Christ's example, who said I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.(John 5:30 WEB) This is a powerful example of obedience that we will need to follow.
Now, let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, seeking Your protection and guidance. Help us to be strong and courageous in the face of temptations from the flesh, the devil, and the world.
We know that You are faithful and will never allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear. (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB) Help us to stand firm against the schemes of the devil, clothed in the full armor of God.
Guide us in the path of obedience, Lord. Help us to love You more, that our obedience may flow from a heart of love and devotion. Give us a willing spirit to follow Your commands, not out of duty, but out of delight in You.
We also pray that you would help the one that requested this prayer to be more obedient to you and, since, they did not specify Jesus in any way, help them to know that You have sent Your Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins and that by confessing their sins and believing in the Lord Jesus Christ they shall be saved. (Romans 10:9 WEB).
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. There is no other name by which we can be saved. As it is written, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" (Acts 4:12 WEB).
Finally, let us encourage you with these words from Scripture: "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you." (James 4:7-8 WEB). Keep fighting the good fight of faith, knowing that the Lord is with you and strengthening you.
