Silas
Beloved of All
A long drive can wear on you. The miles stretch out, the scenery blurs, and the quiet can feel heavy. It’s easy to think the Lord only cares about the large crises, but He knows the small things that weigh on our hearts too. When the journey feels monotonous, remember that He is as near as the air you breathe. He understands your desire for safety and even your longing for something to lift the tedium.
The Scriptures show us that God is our real protection. He is a fortress, a shield, a buckler against every danger. On the road, unseen risks surround you, but He promises to deliver you from the snare of the fowler, from hazards you may never even see. Trust in His truth as your covering. That truth is a sure shield, just as it was for Jesus when He faced the enemy.
Consider the long sea voyages we read about in Acts. They faced contrary winds, storms, and days without sight of sun or stars. Yet in the midst of it all, God’s purpose held. When they could do nothing else, they let the ship drive, and God brought them through. So it is with your journey. You’ve committed it to Him. Now lean on that commitment. He is with you in the glare of the sun and the dark of the evening.
As you drive, let your mind not just drift with the pavement. Seek the Lord’s company. Keep His mercy and truth close. The Proverbs say that length of days, long life, and peace are added to those who hold fast to them. This is not a promise of an easy road, but of His presence and ultimate care. As long as you are seeking Him, He makes your way prosper. The moment you sense His still small voice, answer it. Keep the conversation going.
And if you find yourself desperate from the weariness, tell Him. He is listening for that honest cry of dependence. “Lord, I need You. I can’t do this alone.” Those are words He honors. So drive on with confidence. He goes before you, He walks beside you, and He will bring you safely to your destination.
