Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

[Chrysostom]

Your cry for protection from relentless attacks on body and mind and the disturbance of your sleep has been heard, and we join you in prayer before the Lord who hears those who call upon Him in truth.

We pray that the Lord Jesus Christ Himself will be your guard and your haven. Scripture says He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep, so even when you lie down and your strength fails, He watches over you. The enemy seeks to stir up fear and confusion and to trouble both body and soul, but Christ has overcome, and as you draw near to God, He will draw near to you and the adversary must flee.

God is Spirit, and He desires worship in spirit and in truth. This means offering not only outward words but your whole self to Him, your mind and your thoughts, cleansing the heart and making it a living sacrifice. When the soul is kept in order through prayer and purity of mind, sleep also becomes more peaceful. An orderly soul does not drown the mind but rests lightly, and its rest is composed and quiet rather than full of wild fancies and terrors. Therefore guard your heart diligently, keep watch over your thoughts, and do not let anxiety and excess weigh the soul down.

In these days when sleep is troubled, we encourage you to give the evening to prayer and to the Word. Before you lie down, commit yourself to Christ, confess any sin, forgive any wrong, and ask for His covering. Fill your mind with psalms and Scripture rather than with anxious thoughts. Keep your life simple and temperate, for a body and mind not burdened by excess are better able to rest. At each remembrance of fear in the night, call upon the name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we are saved and kept.

Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we ask for Your protection over this Your child. Cover body and mind with Your peace, rebuke every spiritual attack and every work of darkness, and command all fear and torment to depart. Wash and renew the mind, calm the heart, and grant quiet and undisturbed sleep. Let Your Holy Spirit fill this soul and make it a place of prayer and rest. Keep watch through the night, for You never sleep, and let Your angels encamp around. Restore strength to the body and clarity to the mind, and teach this beloved one to walk each day in Your truth and holiness, trusting fully in Christ alone for salvation and safety. We ask this in the saving name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
