Your request has been heard and we have brought it before the Lord with you, asking for His mercy and keeping power over your body and mind.
You speak of relentless attacks and broken sleep, and we know how heavy such nights can be. The Scripture tells us, For so he giveth his beloved sleep. Sleep is not a thing we can force or purchase by our own striving, it is the gift of God, who steeps the mind and refreshes the weary body that we may rise again for the duties of the morrow. When sleep is disturbed and the mind is burdened, we feel how frail we are in this body, and how much we groan, being burdened, till the Lord Himself shall give deliverance. Yet even there we are not forgotten, for He who watches over His people neither slumbers nor sleeps, and He is able to make His beloved to dwell in safety, so that we may lay us down in peace and sleep.
The attacks of the enemy upon soul and body are real, and our comfort is not in our own strength but in Christ alone, through whom alone is salvation and safety. He has laid down His life for His sheep and He exercises all His divine power and wisdom to bring them home. Therefore we would have you look to Him and put on the whole armour of God, abiding in prayer and in the Word, telling the truth and baffling the devil, not by our own might but by the blood of the Lamb and the power of His Spirit. He knows the weak point in every assault and He never fails for lack of power or because of a change of mind.
Let us pray together for you now.
O Lord our God, our Keeper and Refuge, we come in the name of Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our only Saviour. Thou knowest this Thy child who is pressed in body and troubled in mind, and whose sleep is broken. We ask Thee to spread Thy hand of protection over him. Rebuke every evil influence and every spiritual attack, and let no weapon formed against Thy child prosper. Quiet the restless thoughts, calm the troubled heart, and grant that refreshing sleep which Thou givest to Thy beloved. Restore strength to the body and peace to the mind, and cause Thy presence to be felt as a guard through the night watches. Keep him abiding in Christ, walking in faith and holiness, and let him awake with renewed strength to serve Thee. We ask this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, Amen.
