Protection from spiritual attacks

We stand with you in this battle, dear brother or sister in Christ, and we take up the full armor of God as Ephesians 6:10-18 instructs us. The attacks you describe are not mere coincidences or natural struggles, they are spiritual warfare, and we must resist the enemy with the authority we have in Jesus Christ.

First, we rebuke every assignment of the enemy against your body and mind in the mighty name of Jesus. The Word declares in James 4:7, "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." We command every spirit of torment, fear, and sleeplessness to leave you now, for you belong to Christ, and no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

We pray that the Lord would surround you with His hedge of protection, as He did for Job (Job 1:10). May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We ask the Holy Spirit to fill you afresh, bringing rest to your soul and strength to your body. Psalm 121:3-4 assures us, "He will not allow your foot to be moved. He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep."

If there are any areas in your life where the enemy may have gained a foothold, unconfessed sin, unforgiveness, or open doors to fear, we encourage you to examine your heart before the Lord. 1 John 1:9 reminds us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Close every door to the enemy through repentance and surrender to Christ.

We also declare that your mind would be renewed by the Word of God (Romans 12:2). Fill your thoughts with Scripture, meditate on His promises, and let the truth of God’s Word dismantle every lie of the enemy. Psalm 91 is a powerful declaration of God’s protection, speak it over yourself daily.

Father God, we come before You in the name of Jesus, the Name above every name, the One through whom we have access to You. We thank You that no attack of the enemy can prevail against Your children. We ask that You would dispatch Your angels to encamp around this dear one, to minister to them, and to guard them in all their ways (Psalm 34:7). Strengthen their faith, Lord, and let them sense Your presence in the midst of this battle. Fill them with Your peace, which is a weapon against the enemy’s schemes.

We pray for deep, restorative sleep for them, free from disturbances and nightmares. Let their body and mind be refreshed as they rest in You. We declare that the enemy’s plans are frustrated, and his attacks are turned back upon him, for You are our refuge and fortress (Psalm 91:2).

We stand on the promise of 2 Thessalonians 3:3, "But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you, and guard you from the evil one." Thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness. We trust in You to bring victory in this situation. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We hear you. There is a particular weariness that comes when the battle follows you into the night, when rest becomes a battleground instead of a refuge. We are praying with you, not because we have an easy fix, but because Jesus is with you in this, even when sleep won’t come.

Sometimes the enemy’s goal really is to rob us of the quietness where God restores us. So when you lie down tonight, instead of bracing for another struggle, try taking a few minutes simply to hand the night over to him. You don’t need to craft a perfect prayer. Just speak the name of Jesus into your room, and ask his peace to settle over your thoughts and your body. Let it be an act of trust, not a performance. Even a few deep breaths while you picture his presence can help still the noise.

If the disturbances continue, we’d also gently encourage you to mention the sleep issues to your doctor. Sometimes spiritual attacks tangle with physical realities, and caring for your body is not a lack of faith, it’s wisdom.

Lord Jesus, you are our strong tower and our peace. We ask you now to cover this one through the watches of the night. Silence every voice that breeds fear or confusion, and let your love be the steady ground beneath them. Grant them deep, renewing sleep, and let them wake with fresh confidence in your protection. In your name, Amen.

It is God who steeps the mind in lethe, and bids us slumber, that our bodies may be refreshed. Yet you close your eyes, but still you see; and there be things in your ear, and head, and brain, which will not let you sleep. This body is a home, but we that are in this body do groan, being burdened, and groan we shall till the day of our full redemption. The utmost diligence cannot shield body or mind from fatigue and distress, for we are yet in the body and exempt from no ailment to which our fellow creatures are prone.

Yet consider this: absent from the body, it is present with the Lord. It stretches its wings and flies away up to yonder realm of joy, finding a rest from the turmoil of earth infinitely better than any rest in sleep. For the believer, death is but a sleep of the body, a suspension of the faculties, not a destruction. The poor limbs are weary, and the term speaks of a resting after toil.

Meanwhile, the Lamb in the midst of wolves has conquered the wolves and is Lord of All. His life flows through all the regenerate, even as the blood flows through all the veins of the body. You are united to Him. He knows your person and all about you, that sick body, that aching head, that timidity, that anxiety, that constitutional depression, he knows it all. And though the enemy would have you wakeful and trembling, afraid to say, “My Beloved is mine, and I am his,” remember the voice of the Shepherd: they shall hear My voice, and they shall be one flock.

Our place is to bear and bear and bear continually, as He did. And if you walk with God, He is with you. The Lord give you his grace, and make you his own, comfort you, and make you to follow him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The enemy finds his moment of advantage when you are alone and your body is wearied, for just as he set upon Eve when she was apart from her husband, so now with sleeplessness and the turmoil of your mind he seeks to wear down your soul in isolation. Do not suffer your foot to be moved; the battle depends not on him but on you, if you will stand steadfast and unmovable. Guard yourself, then, lest you fall asleep in spirit while your body lies awake. He who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps, and He is your keeper.

Why build upon the sand of your own strength? That foundation is shaken by every assault. Build upon the rock, which is Christ, and no storm can destroy that dwelling. Recall the loaves and the baskets gathered up: He who fed the thousands with little is the same Lord who sustains you now. Perceive that His power has not diminished, nor His care for you grown cold, and answer the devil’s whispers with the remembrance of past mercies.

The way is narrow, and false prophets and lurking foes are many, but do not look at the roughness of the road, look where it ends. A broken and contrite heart is the sacrifice God will not despise; intense humility disarms every enemy, for a soul that chooses rather to die than to avenge itself cannot be overthrown. So humble yourself under His mighty hand, and the double wall of His forbearance and your own gentleness will stand fast.

Let virtue’s yoke be upon you, for it is light and sweet, while sin’s burdens only bring anxiety, fear, and disturbance to the very body and mind you long to have at peace. Examine your heart: has any iniquity crept in little by little, as the serpent’s custom is, giving him a foothold? Sever it without delay, and fly to the assembly of the faithful. The wolf is boldest when the sheep are scattered; in the flock, within the fold of the Church, you find safety.

The ministration of the Spirit is glorious, far beyond the letter that could only reveal death. This Spirit intercedes for you with groanings too deep for words when sleep flees and your tongue cannot frame a prayer. Call upon Him. Let no hardness of heart, no failure of faith, draw from the Master that gentle rebuke reserved for those He loves: “Why reason ye in yourselves, O ye of little faith? Having eyes, see ye not?” For He rebukes not to cast down but to rouse up, as a kindly guardian, not a harsh ruler.

Be vigilant. Join yourself in prayer with others, even if only in spirit, and sing psalms in the night watches. The devil will not long assail a soul that makes its chamber a church and its bed an altar. May the Lord, who commanded the winds and the sea and gave His beloved sleep, grant you rest in body and the unshakeable peace of a mind stayed on Him.

The attack you describe is aimed at the place where body and mind meet. You are body, mind, and spirit, and the enemy often presses on the body because he knows the mind will follow its distress. But the real you is spirit, and the body is only a temporary instrument. When the body is allowed to sit uppermost, the mind becomes occupied with symptoms and fears, and rest is broken. In Christ the order is restored: the Spirit rules, the mind is renewed, and the body is brought into subjection.

Present your body to God as a living sacrifice and ask him to renew your mind. Do not let your thinking be shaped only by the disturbance in your body. Set your mind on the things of the Spirit rather than on the warfare itself. Speak the truth of God's word over your sleep, because his truth is a shield and a buckler. Jesus answered every attack with what is written, not by reasoning with the enemy. So when fear or restlessness rises, answer with Scripture.

Pray that your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless until the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. That prayer covers the entire person, including your need for rest. Remember that this weak, corruptible body is not your final home. One day you will receive a body that does not grow weary and does not need sleep. Until then, the Lord is able to quiet the disturbance and give you rest. In Jesus' name.
