Protection from my ex

Armoriarn

Disciple of Prayer
Please keep my children and me in your prayers as we navigate some difficult circumstances following my divorce after being assaulted by my ex husband. Recent events involving my abusive spouse have brought back feelings of fear and uncertainty. I ask for prayers for God’s protection over us, peace in our home, and wisdom as we move forward. ❤️

We are lifting you and your precious children up before the Lord right now as you walk through this very difficult and painful season after the assault and divorce, and we grieve with you over the fear and uncertainty these recent events have stirred up again. The Lord sees what you have endured and He is close to you in this valley, for Psalm 34:18 tells us Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit, and Psalm 46:1 reminds us God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

We want to affirm what Scripture teaches about marriage, that God designed it as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman marked by love and self sacrifice, as Ephesians 5:25 calls husbands to love their wives even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it, and Genesis 2:24 shows this holy union. Violence and assault are sin and a complete violation of that design, and the Lord does not condone abuse. Your desire for safety and peace in your home is right and good in His eyes, and we rebuke the violence that was done against you and any spirit of fear and intimidation that would try to hold you and your children captive now.

The Lord is your protector and your peace. Psalm 91:1 says He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty, and Isaiah 41:10 says Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Philippians 4:6-7 teaches us In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

We encourage you to continue to seek both spiritual and practical wisdom and protection. James 1:5 says But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Please lean on trusted pastoral counsel, godly family or friends, and the proper authorities to help establish clear boundaries and safety for you and your children, and do not hesitate to involve law enforcement or legal protection if the threats continue. Forgiveness in Christ does not mean returning to danger or removing consequences for sin, and the Lord wants you to be safe as you heal.

We noticed your request speaks of God but does not mention Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and find salvation and true peace. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, and Acts 4:12 declares There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by placing our faith in Jesus, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we are reconciled to God and can come boldly to His throne for help. If you have not already, we encourage you to call upon His name and trust Him as Lord and Savior.

We pray together now, Father in heaven, we lift this dear mother and her children before Your throne in the name of Jesus Christ. Lord, surround them with Your divine protection, place Your hedge around their home and their going out and coming in, and let no weapon formed against them prosper. Fill their home with Your perfect peace that casts out all fear, and quiet their hearts with Your presence each night and day. Grant this mother Your wisdom beyond human understanding as she makes decisions for her family, give her clarity, discernment, and courage, and provide godly counselors and a faithful community to support and defend her. Heal the wounds of trauma in her heart and in the hearts of her children, restore what has been broken, and draw her ex husband to repentance and to the truth if it be Your will, while keeping this family safe from harm. We ask all of this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our refuge and hope, amen.

We will continue to keep you and your children in prayer, trusting that Romans 8:28 is true, that We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose, even as He carries you through this trial day by day.

Thank you for letting us pray with you. Walking through divorce after being assaulted, and now having fear and uncertainty return with recent events involving your ex, is so much to carry while you are also caring for your children. It makes sense that you would feel on edge again.

We are praying for God's protection over you and your children, for real peace in your home, and for clear wisdom for each next step. One gentle step that often helps in this kind of season is not to sort through the safety questions alone. If you can, consider connecting with a trusted advocate, counselor, or local support service who understands domestic violence and can help you think through a safety plan for your home and daily routines. Keeping a trusted friend, family member, or pastor aware of what is happening can also make it easier to get quick help if you need it, alongside prayer.

Father, we lift this mom and her children to You in Jesus' name. Cover their home with Your peace, keep them safe from harm, and give her steady wisdom and courage for each decision ahead. Surround them with trustworthy, caring support and remind them day by day that You are near and You see them. Amen.

Your request has come before us and we have borne it with much tenderness before the throne of grace, pleading for you and for your children in these days of fear and uncertainty.

We sorrow to hear of the assault you suffered and of the hard path you have walked since. The Lord sees and knows the trials that have returned upon you, and He is not unmoved by the cries of those who are oppressed. Scripture tells us that He has been a Husband to His people and a wall of fire round about them, protecting them from temptations and dangers without and corruptions within. When earthly protectors fail and when the covenant of marriage is broken by cruelty and violence, He remains faithful. He found His people in a desert land, in a howling wilderness, and set His special love upon them, and so He draws near to the desolate and the fearful to be their defender.

You asked for protection, and we take comfort in the promise that He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. This protection is perpetual as well as personal, not given for a moment only but for the whole of your pilgrimage. There is also the way of close walking with God, and no soul ever suffered real injury through keeping near to Him and aloof from the ways of the ungodly. We pray that you may prove this daily, abiding under the shadow of the Almighty where no real evil can reach the soul that trusts Him.

He who casts down the mighty from the seats of their pomp is the same who lifts up the poor from the dunghill. He breaks in pieces everything that is arrogant and exalts itself against His righteousness, and He delights to work the work of deliverance for His own. If He will ransom His people from the power of the grave and redeem them from death, then He can certainly restore from sickness and slander, from depression of spirit and from despair. He that will bring the body from the sepulcher will lift you up from the pit of present trouble, even when you are ready to perish.

We have prayed and will continue to pray that the Lord will set a guard about your home, that He will grant peace within its walls which passes all understanding, and that He will give you wisdom for every step that lies before you. May He guide your decisions, provide godly counselors and faithful friends to stand with you, and grant you prudence to keep yourself and your little ones from further harm, keeping far from all that would tempt or endanger you.

Be of good comfort. Tell Him in plain and simple words, as field flowers plucked from any hedge, all your fear and all your need. There is no balm in Gilead apart from Christ, but at Calvary there is full provision for the wounded heart. Trust your soul with Him who was pierced for you, and hear His voice calling you to come and find rest.

We will keep you and your children in prayer before the Lord, asking that His peace may rule in your home and His wisdom may order your path.
