Protection from evil spirits in one person

Lord please protect me from evil spirits in ###. I must spend time with him. We are waiting for hendymen. He is supposed to help me to. He is stubborn, typical macho man, intrusive character, criticizing more then supporting. He sais that i dont listen to him/obey him. Lord pleaee let him be gentler.

We join with you in bringing this situation before the Lord and we understand how difficult it is to need to spend time with someone who feels intrusive, critical and harsh, especially while you are in a vulnerable position of waiting for help and needing support in your home.

We want to gently bring some biblical clarity to your request. You asked for protection from evil spirits in this man. Scripture teaches us that our struggle is spiritual, for our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Eph 6:12. This means we do not view the person himself as the enemy, but we do recognize that the enemy can influence attitudes like stubbornness, pride, harsh criticism and a desire to control others. We are also called not to be afraid, for God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Tim 1:7 and we are reminded that he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4. The Lord Himself is our protection, for He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty Psalm 91:1 and the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one 2 Thess 3:3.

We also hear your concern that he says you do not listen to him or obey him and we want to encourage you with truth. Unless this man is your husband or your father, you are not biblically required to obey him as an authority over you. Even in those God ordained relationships, leadership is to be exercised in love and gentleness, not in a macho or domineering way. We are to obey God rather than men Acts 5:29 and to honor all people while seeking peace as much as it is up to us, if it is possible, live in peace with all men Rom 12:18. A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger Prov 15:1 and we are called to let no corrupt speech proceed out of our mouths, but only what is good for building others up Eph 4:29. So it is right to pray that he would become gentler, but also to ask God for wisdom to set loving and firm boundaries and to not receive his criticism as your identity.

You addressed your prayer to the Lord, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and that we have authority over spiritual darkness. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is in the name of Jesus that we can resist the enemy and find refuge, so we always pray in His name.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. We thank You that You are our refuge and fortress, our God in whom we trust. We ask You to cover our sister with Your protection as she spends time with this man. Put a hedge around her, guard her mind and heart from fear, from accusation and from any spiritual oppression. We put on the full armor of God on her behalf and ask that no weapon formed against her would prosper. We rebuke any spirit of intimidation, pride, harshness and control that would seek to work through this man, and we command in Jesus name that it have no influence over her or her home.

Lord, we also pray for this man, whose name You know. You see his stubbornness and his intrusive and critical spirit. We ask that You would soften his heart and teach him gentleness and self control which are fruit of Your Spirit Gal 5:22. Help him to speak with kindness and to offer true help rather than criticism. Give him eyes to see how to support rather than to dominate. If there is any influence of the enemy in his life, we pray You would convict him and draw him to repentance and to salvation in Jesus.

Father, grant our sister wisdom that she has asked for, for if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him James 1:5. Show her how to respond with grace and truth, how to set boundaries with love, how to answer gently and when to remain quiet. Give her peace while she waits for the handymen and provide the practical help she needs so she is not dependent on harsh help. Let her feel Your presence close to her, reminding her that You will never leave her nor forsake her.

We trust You to guard her and to work in both hearts for Your glory. We ask all of this in the powerful and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our only hope, amen.

Having to spend extended time with someone who feels intrusive and quick to criticize, especially when you are depending on him for help while you wait for the handymen, can leave you feeling tense and on edge. It makes sense you are asking for protection and for a gentler way of relating.

We hear how much you want peace in this in-between season. One way we think about situations like this is that healthy boundaries are like a property line for the heart. Being near someone does not mean you have to take on every criticism or carry responsibility for his mood and opinions. You can remain respectful and kind while still holding your own thoughts, choices and limits. That freedom to let your yes be yes and your no be no is part of how God guards our hearts in difficult relationships.

While you are in this waiting period, it may help to keep time together as structured as you can. If possible, stay in shared spaces when the handymen are present, agree beforehand on what each of you will handle, and give yourself permission to step away briefly for air or a short break when tension rises. A simple, calm phrase like "I hear what you are saying, I will think about that" can help you stay steady without getting pulled into a debate about obeying or listening.

We are praying for you and holding this with you before the Lord.

Father, we bring our sister to You and ask for Your covering and peace over her in these days together. Guard her heart, give her wisdom for each conversation, and let her know Your nearness and strength. We ask for gentleness in this relationship and for safety and calm while she waits. Your burden has been laid before the Lord and He marks the trial that presses upon you in this season of waiting and close contact with one whose temper is rough and whose words wound rather than help.

It is right to seek protection, but remember where true keeping lies. The promise is, He shall give His angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways. You will always need divine keeping, and you have it when you keep in the way of duty and walk in the light. The Holy Spirit will never dwell in a heart that has not been cleansed with the blood of Jesus, nor can He reside where love of sin remains. Therefore do not seek after signs and curious thoughts about evil spirits in another, as if every hard temper were a possession. Scripture teaches that man is very far gone from original righteousness and is of his own nature inclined to evil, and what you see in harshness, stubbornness and a domineering spirit is the fruit of that fallen nature which can only be changed by being born anew in Christ. The need for both of you is not a charm against spirits, but a new life from above, a living and incorruptible Seed, wrought by the mighty power which God worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead.

Cast thy burden upon the Lord. Salt all your life with prayer lest corruption come to that part of life which you have not thus salted. When you have cast your burden upon Him, have done with it and leave it there. Fret not yourself in any wise to do evil, for it is fretting that leads to anger and all manner of evil, but when the heart truly rests in God it forsakes wrath. He knows your need of help with the work before you, and He will bring His own people through with a high hand, as He brought Israel forth like sheep.

Concerning this man who says you must listen to him and obey him, hear the counsel of Scripture. Overcome evil with good. It is natural to overcome evil with evil, it suggests itself to any fool, but that method does us far more injury than any evil we receive from others. Be meek and lowly in mind, learning of Christ. If he is harsh, give no harshness in return. If he criticizes, answer with quiet truth and patient kindness, and so you shall heap coals of fire on his head, not in vengeance but in winning him to shame for his wrong and to gentleness. Yet keep yourself distinct. Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness and what communion has light with darkness. You must be in the same world with such, but go not into their society by your own choice nor seek your pleasure with them. And know this, the call to obey as a wife belongs within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, as God ordained. Outside that covenant you are not bound to obey any man as a husband, and to live together or to share the intimacies that belong only within that covenant is not the appointed way. If you are not in that holy estate, keep clear boundaries, seek the counsel and presence of godly brethren, and let your ways be pure and above reproach. If you are married, then let obedience be as unto the Lord, but let him also learn that he must dwell with you with understanding and gentleness, for the Spirit of God makes men brave and tender, not domineering.

Deal honestly with God. Stand in the light and present yourself before Him as you are. Say to Him, Cleanse thou me from secret faults, purge me and I shall be clean. There is salvation in no other name, for God is rich in mercy and quickens together with Christ those who were dead in sins. Believe in Christ Jesus and trust Him, and then shall come seals and marks of His keeping. Be not satisfied to seek strength elsewhere, but be filled with the Spirit, for the Spirit of God can gird you with strength, the strength of faith, and make you calm and courageous though your natural temper be tried.

Let us pray for you. O Lord God who is light and in whom is no darkness, look upon this Thy servant pressed and wearied. Cover her with Thy protection and give Thine angels charge over her to keep her in all her ways while she walks in the path of duty. Fill her with Thy Holy Spirit that she may have power to overcome evil with good, to answer with gentleness and to keep a quiet heart. Forgive sin and cleanse the heart through the blood of Jesus Christ, and grant faith to rest the burden fully upon Thee. Work also in this man, convict him of his harsh and intrusive ways, turn his heart from pride to meekness, and bring him to know Christ if he knows Him not. Grant wisdom to order this time of waiting and labour, provide faithful help for the work of the hands, and teach both to walk in holiness and truth. Keep Thy people from all evil and bring them at last to see Thy face with joy, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
