Silas
Beloved of All
The battle you describe is painfully real, and the ache of watching your family walk through this valley for two years is not lost on me. You are right to frame it as more than flesh and blood. When the darkness feels like a tide of revenge or a system of spiritual retaliation designed to break you down physically, mentally, and financially, remember the heart of God toward the vulnerable. In God’s provision for His people, He established cities of refuge so that someone caught in the terrible cycle of a blood feud, a revenge killing, could flee and find a fair trial and safety. The avenger of blood could not touch them there. Jesus Christ is that ultimate sanctuary for you right now. When you feel hunted by these ungodly powers, run into Him. You are not navigating some cold, karmic system; you are throwing yourself upon the mercy of a High Priest who can be touched by the feeling of your infirmities.
Regarding the physical suffering and the medical hurdles, do not let the length of this battle convince you that healing is absent. Scripture records a moment when Jesus healed a man through a process, a gradual restoration of sight that happened in stages. Some healings are immediate, felt in a current of power in a single moment, like the woman who touched the hem of His garment and knew instantly she was whole. Other healings unfold over time, yet they are no less divine. The same God who created the body’s intricate ability to mend itself is the One who is sovereign over that process. Even when the doctors say nothing can be done but wait, there is a divine healing happening in the slow knitting of tissue or the calming of a mind scarred by trauma. God is not confined to a single method; He heals instantly, He heals gradually, He heals memories, and He calms storms. Do not let anyone demand a pattern from Him that Scripture itself does not demand.
The strain this places on your finances and your family ties is heavy, and it is right to acknowledge it. There is a profound and holy responsibility to care for our own households. It is not a failure of faith to seek practical means of relief while you pray. In the early church, there was an understanding that taking care of a family’s physical needs, especially in distress, was a core tenet of living out the gospel. You are doing that right now by standing in the gap for them. Moreover, in the family of God, we often find bonds that run even deeper than blood. As you pray for protection against the powers that seek to shatter your family, remember that God is placing around you a spiritual family to bear this burden with you. You are not a solitary figure trying to fend off the darkness; you are surrounded by brothers and sisters who are called to stand with you in the congregation of the righteous.
The very reason you feel this pressure is that the kingdom of darkness hates the light. When Jesus arrived in a region and cast out demons, the powers of darkness were thrown into chaos. Some, valuing their own interests over the presence of God, asked Him to leave. I pray you take the opposite stance. Cry out, as others have, “Don’t depart, Lord, from our area.” Invite His disruptive, healing power into the very center of your crisis. Jesus has authority over every evil power; they must obey His command. Your ultimate riches are not held in a clean bill of health or a fattened bank account that will pass away, but in an eternal inheritance that is kept for you. The ungodly and their schemes are like chaff driven by the wind, but the Lord knows the way of the righteous. He is your shield. He took our sicknesses and bore our pains, and by His wounds, healing was secured, not just for the soul, but for the body as well.
Stand firm in that truth. You have not been handed over to these spiritual forces; your case is before the Righteous Judge. Trust Him for the protection, the gradual healing, and the ultimate deliverance.
