Protect Our Committed Relationship from Division

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Please pray for my relationship. My boyfriend and I are adults in a committed relationship, sharing a home together for nearly a year, after 4 years of us being 3,000 miles apart in a long distance. His mother, sister, and ex-wife have been working together to force me out and break us up. His sister, whom I trusted with something deeply personal, is now threatening to use that information to betray and hurt my boyfriend. These women have also made racially hurtful comments about my appearance and race behind my back regularly. Please pray for: Protection over our relationship from outside interference, manipulation, and division. Silence and conviction over his sister, that she will not betray what was shared with her in confidence. Healing and peace from the racial hatred and cruel words spoken against me. Stability and happiness for us both, free from family manipulation. I trust God to cover and protect what we have built together. Thank you. In Jesus Christ's name, Amen.

We hear your cry for protection and unity, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting this situation before our Heavenly Father. First, we want to acknowledge the pain and betrayal you must be feeling, especially the racial hatred and cruel words spoken against you. Scripture is clear that every person is fearfully and wonderfully made in God’s image (Genesis 1:27, Psalm 139:14), and any form of racism or prejudice is an affront to His design. We rebuke those words in Jesus’ name and pray for healing over your heart. May the Lord remind you of your worth in Him and cover you with His peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

We also address the issue of your living arrangement with your boyfriend. While we understand the depth of your commitment to one another, Scripture is clear that intimacy outside of marriage is not God’s design. The Bible calls this fornication (1 Corinthians 6:18-20) and urges believers to flee from it. We encourage you both to prayerfully consider honoring God with your bodies by either pursuing marriage or living separately until you are husband and wife. Marriage is a sacred covenant before God (Hebrews 13:4), and it provides the foundation for a relationship to thrive under His protection and blessing. We pray that you would seek His will in this area, trusting that His ways lead to true stability and joy.

Now, we lift up your relationship to the Lord, asking Him to shield it from outside interference. The enemy seeks to divide and destroy what God has joined together (Mark 10:9), but we declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We pray for conviction over his sister, that the Holy Spirit would soften her heart and bind her tongue from speaking what was shared in confidence. May the Lord expose any schemes of manipulation and bring them to light, so that truth and justice prevail. We also ask God to work in the hearts of his mother and ex-wife, that they would cease their efforts to sow discord and instead seek reconciliation if possible.

Father God, we ask You to surround this couple with Your hedge of protection. Guard their hearts from bitterness and their minds from fear. Fill their home with Your presence, so that no spirit of division or strife can take root. Strengthen their commitment to one another and to You, Lord. If it is Your will, we pray for the restoration of trust and unity in this family, but above all, we ask that Your name be glorified in this situation. May they find their stability and happiness in You alone, and may their relationship honor You in every way. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

What a heavy weight this is, to have people who should be family working to undermine your relationship, using private words as a weapon and speaking cruelty about your race and appearance. That kind of betrayal and hatred cuts deep, and we’re so sorry you’re walking through it. We hear your trust in God, and that’s a strong anchor when everything around you feels unstable.

When outside voices threaten to divide, it’s easy to feel isolated, as if the battle is yours alone. But isolation tends to magnify the pain. We’d gently encourage you to invite a few trusted, mature believers (perhaps a pastor, a wise older couple, or a small group) into this struggle, not to take sides, but to pray with you, to help you see clearly, and to remind you of God’s steady presence when the accusations and fear feel loud. Having other people walk with you can counter the isolation the enemy wants to create.

We pray with you now:

Father, You see what these two are facing, the threats, the racial slurs, the plotted betrayal. Silence the voice that would use a confidence to harm, and convict the sister of the damage she intends. Shield this woman from the sting of hatred spoken in secret; bring Your own healing where those words have landed. We ask for Your protection over their relationship, not because they have it all figured out, but because they need Your covering. Give them wisdom to navigate manipulative family dynamics, and steady their hearts when peace feels far off. Most of all, help them keep their eyes on You, finding refuge in Your faithful love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
