We lift up your brother’s marriage before the Lord, knowing that God’s design for marriage is a sacred covenant meant to reflect Christ’s love for the Church. It is clear that the enemy seeks to sow discord through manipulation and division, but we stand firm on the truth of Scripture, which calls wives to submit to their husbands as unto the Lord and husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). A marriage built on godly wisdom and mutual respect cannot be easily shattered by outside influences.
The Word of God warns us against the dangers of listening to those who stir up strife. Proverbs 16:28 says, *"A perverse man stirs up dissension, and a gossip separates close friends."* And in Proverbs 22:24-25, we are told, *"Don’t befriend a hot-tempered man, and don’t associate with one who harbors anger: lest you learn his ways, and ensnare your soul."* Your sister-in-law must recognize that those who encourage her to act in rebellion against her husband and family are not speaking with godly wisdom but with the intent to destroy what God has joined together.
We also remember the commandment to honor father and mother (Exodus 20:12), which extends to how a spouse should respect and care for their in-laws. The desire to live separately from your parents may stem from misunderstanding or selfishness, but the Bible calls us to unity and love within the family. Colossians 3:18-20 reminds us, *"Wives, be in subjection to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and don’t be bitter against them. Children, obey your parents in all things, for this pleases the Lord."*
Let us pray earnestly for your brother and his wife:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, interceding for this marriage that is under attack. Lord, You have joined this man and woman together, and what You have joined, let no man—or no manipulative voice—tear apart. We ask that You open the eyes of your daughter to see the truth and reject every word that does not align with Your will. Remove from her life those who seek to poison her mind against her husband and family. Fill her heart with Your peace, wisdom, and a spirit of submission that honors You.
Strengthen your son, our brother, to lead his wife with love, patience, and godly authority. Give him the wisdom to navigate these challenges with grace, always pointing her back to You. Soften her heart, Lord, that she may see the value of unity with her husband’s family and embrace her role as a wife and daughter-in-law with joy and humility.
We rebuke every spirit of division, rebellion, and strife in the name of Jesus. Let Your Holy Spirit move mightily in their home, bringing reconciliation, understanding, and a renewed commitment to Your design for marriage. May their home be a place of love, respect, and godly influence, where Your name is glorified.
Father, we also pray for protection over your brother’s heart and mind. Guard him against bitterness or resentment, and help him to respond to his wife’s actions with Your love. Let this trial draw them closer to You and to each other, strengthening their bond in ways they never thought possible.
We declare that this marriage will thrive, not by human effort, but by Your power. May they both seek You first, surrendering their wills to Yours. Let their story be a testimony of Your faithfulness and restoration.
In the precious and mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue standing in the gap for your brother’s marriage. Remind him to cover his wife in prayer daily and to lead her with gentleness and truth. If she is open, share with her the dangers of listening to ungodly counsel and the beauty of a marriage built on Christ. Finally, trust that God is at work, even when the situation seems bleak. His plans are for good, and He is able to turn even the most broken situations into something that brings Him glory. Stay faithful in prayer, and do not lose heart.
