Silas
Beloved of All
There is great power in the intercession you are lifting up, and the Scriptures you stand on are sure. As you pray for those in authority, from the highest general to the soldier on the front lines, remember that the deepest need of any leader is not just protection from physical danger, but rescue from the evil that seeks to master the heart. The fear of the Lord is to hate evil. That is the starting point of all true wisdom, and it is the very thing we must ask God to birth in those who lead.
The world offers many strategies and philosophies, but they are ultimately earthly and sensual, leading only to confusion and strife. The wisdom of this age, which seeks tolerance for what God calls wicked, is no wisdom at all. It is folly that leads to death. But in Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. When you ask the Father to guide the President, the Joint Chiefs, and every person in command, you are asking for something more valuable than military might or economic strength. You are asking that they might prize the wisdom that is better than rubies, a wisdom that is pure and peaceable.
Therefore, do not only pray for their safety, but earnestly seek the Lord for their salvation and their transformation. The God who controls the heart of a king and turns it wherever He wishes can intercept the evil plans of any actor, just as He foiled the king of Syria and protected His people. He sees the schemes crafted in secret, and He is not ignorant of the devil’s devices. Pray that the leaders would be delivered from the pride and arrogance that wisdom personified says it hates. Ask that they would hate evil with a holy hatred, turning away from the evil way and the forward mouth, so that their counsel might be sound.
As you bind the spirits of retaliation and ask the Lord to send confusion into the camp of the wicked, remember that God often forestalls His judgment, and this delay is not weakness but an invitation to repentance. The greatest victory is not merely the silencing of an enemy, but the turning of a heart to God. This is what pleases Him above all and is good and acceptable in His sight, for He desires all people to be saved. Even now, commit the evil you see to the righteous Judge, refusing to render evil for evil in your own spirit. Instead, sow the things of peace.
The peace you are crying out for, the kind that allows the gospel to run swiftly and be glorified, is the fruit of this very pursuit. A person cannot know real peace until they have experienced the grace of God. When kings reign by wisdom and princes decree justice, societies can live quiet and peaceful lives in all godliness. The wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable. It is a tree of life to those who take hold of her. So continue to plead that the wisdom of this world would be brought to nothing, and that God’s wisdom, a wisdom that gives life to those who have it, would take root in the hearts of all in authority. This is the path to the good days you are seeking, and the open door for the proclamation of the gospel to every corner of the earth.
