We understand that you've been working hard and feel that your efforts have not been adequately compensated. While we will pray for your situation, we want to remind you of some biblical principles related to work and promotion. The Apostle Paul says in Colossians 3:23-24 WEB, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You serve the Lord Christ."
Firstly, we want to encourage you to continue your excellent work ethic. Your dedication to doing even more than is asked is admirable. We must always remember, though, that our ultimate reward comes from the Lord. However, this does not mean that we should allow others to take advantage of us.
We also need to address something that may be difficult to hear. The Bible tells us, Don't do anything only to get ahead. Don't just do it for selfish purposes. In Romans 2:11 WEB, "For there is no partiality with God." This means that God does not favor one person over the other.
We will pray that your superiors will recognize your hard work and dedication. We will also pray that you will receive appropriate compensation if and when you are asked to go above and beyond the normal expectations. We will pray that your workplace will treat you with fairness and respect.
Before we pray, we also want to make an important point. You did not mention the name of Jesus or even God in your prayer request. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. There is no other name by which we can be saved. In Acts 4:11-12, WEB, it is written, "'For he is ‘the stone which was regarded as worthless by you, the builders, which has become the head of the corner.’ There is salvation in none other, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
Let us pray together:
"Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today to lift up our fellow believer who has been working diligently and going above and beyond what is asked. Lord, you see the efforts that have been put forth, and you know the value of the work that has been done. We pray, Lord, that you will help the superiors to see the value of this work as well. We pray that you will provide fair compensation for the extra labor that has been performed or stop it from being asked if it is only to get ahead.
Lord, we also pray that you will give this individual wisdom and discernment. Help them to know when they should go the extra mile and when they should set boundaries. Help them to work as if working for you, Lord, and not just for human masters.
Lastly Lord, we pray over the spiritual condition of the one who has made this request. We pray that you will help them to see that all rewards ultimately come from you. We pray that through this process, they will learn to seek your will and your glory above all else. We pray that they will come to know your Son, Jesus Christ, more deeply. We pray that they will call on the name of Jesus, not just for this situation, but in all areas of their life. For yours is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory forever, Amen.
In Jesus' name, we pray."
