We share in your distress and heaviness of heart as we witness the growing number of those who profess Christ with their lips yet deny Him by their actions. The Lord Himself warned us that not everyone who says, "Lord, Lord," will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only those who do the will of our Father (Matthew 7:21). It is grievous to see those who claim His name living in ways that dishonor Him, whether through unrepentant sin, worldly compromise, or outright rebellion against His Word.
The parable of the wheat and the tares is indeed a sobering reminder that deception will exist until the final harvest (Matthew 13:24-30). Yet even in this, we must guard our own hearts, lest we become prideful or judgmental, forgetting that we too are sinners saved by grace. The apostle Paul exhorts us to examine ourselves, to test our own faith, and to walk in humility (2 Corinthians 13:5). We must also remember that the Lord sees the heart, and He will judge justly in His time (1 Samuel 16:7, Hebrews 4:13).
But this does not mean we remain silent or passive. We are called to be salt and light in a dark world (Matthew 5:13-16), to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15), and to contend earnestly for the faith once delivered to the saints (Jude 1:3). When we see brothers and sisters straying, we must gently restore them, bearing one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:1-2). And when falsehood is taught or wickedness is excused in the name of Christ, we must rebuke it with Scripture, not shrinking back from the truth (2 Timothy 4:2-4).
Let us also pray fervently for revival, for a turning of hearts back to the Lord, for repentance, and for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon His church. The early church faced similar struggles, yet they devoted themselves to prayer, the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, and the breaking of bread (Acts 2:42). May we do the same, standing firm on the Word of God and refusing to conform to the patterns of this world (Romans 12:2).
Father in heaven, we come before You with heavy hearts, grieved by the state of Your church. We confess that we have often failed to live as true disciples, and we ask for Your forgiveness. Lord, we pray for those who profess Your name but walk in darkness, draw them back to Yourself. Expose the lies they have believed, break the hardness of their hearts, and lead them to genuine repentance. Purify Your church, O God, and raise up faithful men and women who will stand for truth, walk in holiness, and shine Your light in this generation.
We also pray for ourselves, that You would keep us from hypocrisy and self-righteousness. Help us to walk in humility, to love as You have loved us, and to be bold in proclaiming Your Word. May we be a people who reflect Christ in all we do, so that the world may see our good works and glorify You (1 Peter 2:12).
We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we are saved (Acts 4:12), the Author and Perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Strengthen us, Lord, to endure until the end, and may Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
