Profanity

It seems nowadays, another sin taking hold, or sinful action, is people who habitually and continuously curse. I don't even mean during anger, which is still a work of the flesh, but like in regular conversation, like every word is heavy cursing like the f word, the mf word, and continually through the conversation. And surprisingly, a lot of young girls. Not very ladylike, right? I don't know if this is some kind of demonic influence like a dirty spirit, because there are other unsaved traits attached to them. But doesn't the Bible teach, let your manner of speech be holy. So how did this distasteful trend come about? Might it be an unclean spirit?

We share your deep concern over the growing normalization of profanity in everyday speech, even among young women who are called to reflect godliness and purity. The Scriptures are clear about the power of our words and the importance of guarding our tongues. Jesus Himself taught that *"out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks"* (Matthew 12:34, WEB). When profanity flows so freely, it reveals a heart that is not surrendered to Christ—a heart influenced by the world rather than transformed by the Holy Spirit.

The Apostle Paul exhorts us in Ephesians 4:29 (WEB): *"Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear."* Profanity is not merely a cultural habit; it is a reflection of a heart that has not been renewed by the Word of God. The Bible also warns us in Colossians 3:8 (WEB): *"But now you must also put away all these things: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and shameful speaking out of your mouth."* When a person—especially one who claims to follow Christ—speaks in such a way, they are grieving the Holy Spirit and aligning themselves with the works of the flesh rather than the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:19-23).

You asked whether this could be a demonic influence, and we believe it is wise to consider the spiritual dimension. Jesus warned that *"the things which proceed out of the mouth come out of the heart, and they defile the man. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies"* (Matthew 15:18-19, WEB). When a person’s speech is consistently filled with filth, it is evidence of an unclean heart—one that may indeed be under the influence of unclean spirits. James 3:6 (WEB) tells us that *"the tongue is a fire. The world of iniquity among our members is the tongue, which defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature, and is set on fire by Gehenna."* This is not a matter to take lightly. If someone is bound by such speech, they need deliverance through repentance and the power of the Holy Spirit.

The rise of this trend is no accident. Our culture has increasingly rejected biblical morality, embracing instead the coarse and vulgar language of the world. The enemy seeks to desensitize people to sin, making what was once shocking now commonplace. But as believers, we are called to be set apart. *"Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God"* (Romans 12:2, WEB). When we allow profanity to become normal in our speech, we are conforming to the world rather than to Christ.

For those who struggle with this, we urge repentance and a deliberate turning away from such language. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9, WEB). We must also fill our hearts and minds with the Word of God, for it is the truth that sanctifies us (John 17:17). Let us pray for those ensnared by this sin, that God would convict their hearts and lead them to true repentance.

---
**Let us pray together:**

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, grieved by the way profanity has infiltrated the speech of so many—even among those who should reflect Your holiness. Lord, we ask that You would convict hearts and bring repentance to those who have allowed corrupt speech to flow from their lips. Cleanse them, Father, and renew their minds by the power of Your Word. Break the strongholds of the enemy that have led them to embrace such filth, and fill them instead with Your Holy Spirit, that their words may be seasoned with grace and truth.

We pray especially for the young women who have been deceived into thinking that such language is acceptable or empowering. Father, remind them of their dignity as Your daughters, created in Your image to reflect purity and godliness. Soften their hearts to receive Your truth and turn away from the ways of the world.

Lord, we also ask for wisdom for Your people, that we would not be swayed by the culture but would stand firm in Your Word. Help us to be lights in the darkness, speaking life and edification rather than death and corruption. May our words always bring glory to Your name.

We rebuke the spirit of profanity and uncleanness that has taken hold in our culture. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we command these spirits to be silenced and bound, that Your people may be set free to worship You in spirit and in truth.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

We're right there with you, concerned about the increasing use of profanity in everyday speech, even among young women. It's a sign of the times, isn't it? The Bible tells us, "Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers" (Ephesians 4:29, WEB). Profanity doesn't build up, it tears down. It's not a sign of strength or freedom, but of a heart that's lost its way.

We've seen this trend grow, and it's worrying. But we must remember, we're not powerless. We can choose what comes out of our mouths. We can decide to speak life, not death. We can decide to speak grace, not filth. Let's pray for those struggling with this, that they'd find freedom in Christ. Let's pray for ourselves too, that we'd be bold in speaking truth and love, not fear or hate.

Lord, help us. Help us to speak Your words, to live Your truth. Help us to be lights in this dark world, speaking life and love, not death and hate. Help us to be Your hands and feet, speaking Your truth with grace and love. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

I prayed that God in Jesus' name will answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. Thank You Jesus!!!

Be a Prayer Warrior: “Praying for others”

We want to thank you for allowing us the honor of lifting this burden before the Lord with you. The casual and pervasive use of profanity in everyday speech is truly a sign of the times, and we share your concern for the hearts of those who have fallen into this pattern—especially among young women. It has been our prayer these past days that God would break the power of unwholesome speech, expose any spiritual influences at work, and bring conviction to those who may not even realize how deeply this habit dishonors Him.

We have also prayed for you, that the Lord would guard your heart and mind as you navigate conversations where this sin is so openly displayed. May He give you wisdom to respond with grace when needed, and may your own speech remain seasoned with salt, full of truth and love.

If you have seen any shift in this trend—whether in your own circles or in the culture around you—we would love to hear a praise report of how God is moving. If this burden still weighs heavily on your spirit, we encourage you to share it with us again so we can continue to intercede.

May the Lord strengthen you as you stand for holiness in a world that often rejects it. We pray He would raise up a generation whose words bring life, not death, and whose conversations reflect the purity of Christ. In Jesus Name.
