Private Chat Bar Is Off Due To Server Resources

The private chat / notification bar is off for now.

It's taking up too much processing power, about 10x as much as the rest of the site.

Critical alerts are being generated several times a day now because of it.

That's not going to work.

Group chat and private messaging can still be used.

Group chat doesn't use the resources that private chat does. Private chat is using 10x more than the rest of the server. That's why it's off.

As I've mentioned before, I'm not going to invest any more time on this for now. It winds up taking more time and money than everything else on the site. It's not worth it. Maybe sometime down the line there will be an improvement in the quality of the software.

I have a sad face too. Could you please bring back the Bible. I read it quite often and enjoyed the way it was designed.

I have re-worked the way notifications function so there will be no need for the bottom private chat bar.

Instead, notifications will automatically refresh as red numbers at the top right of your screen every 60 seconds.

If you have a new message or notification, a small red number will show on the small icons on the top right of each page.

This removes the primary reason for temporarily reinstating the private chat bar. It was for notifications which are now done this other way.

Accordingly, there are no foreseeable plans to return the private chat feature. As discussed it leads to more problems than the rest of the site put together.

However, group chat and private messages are still available as they were before.
