We join you in lifting up your son before the Lord, knowing that God has a perfect plan for his life, and we trust in His wisdom to guide him through this season of decision-making. The desire to seek independence or freedom through work at a young age is understandable, but we pray that your son will recognize the value of persevering in his education as a foundation for his future. Proverbs 22:6 reminds us, *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."* Education is a gift from God, and we ask that He would instill in your son a hunger for knowledge, wisdom, and the discipline to see this journey through.
We also remember the words of Colossians 3:23, *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men."* Whether in studies or future work, we pray your son will seek to honor God in all he does, understanding that his efforts are ultimately for the Lord’s glory. Let him not grow weary in doing good, for in due season he will reap a harvest if he does not give up (Galatians 6:9).
At the same time, we recognize that the enemy may be tempting him with the allure of immediate freedom or financial gain, distracting him from the long-term blessings of completing his education. We rebuke this spirit of impatience and shortsightedness in the name of Jesus, declaring that your son’s steps are ordered by the Lord (Psalm 37:23). May God surround him with wise counsel—teachers, mentors, and friends who will encourage him to stay the course. We also pray for you as his parent, that the Lord will give you the words to speak into his life with grace and truth, and that your home will be filled with peace and unity as you navigate this together.
Most importantly, we lift up your son’s heart before the Lord, asking that he would come to know Jesus Christ as his personal Savior if he has not already. There is no greater foundation for his life than a relationship with Christ, through whom all wisdom and direction flow. As it is written in Proverbs 3:5-6, *"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* Without faith in Jesus, all other pursuits—whether education or career—will ultimately fall short of God’s purpose for his life. If your son does not yet know the Lord, we urge you to share the Gospel with him: that Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-4), and that salvation comes through repentance and faith in Him alone (Acts 4:12).
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this young man who stands at a crossroads. Lord, we ask that You would guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus, filling him with a spirit of perseverance and a vision for the future You have prepared for him. Remove any fear, doubt, or distraction that would lead him away from the path You’ve set before him. Give him a teachable spirit and a hunger for Your Word, that he may walk in Your wisdom. Strengthen his mother as she guides him, and let her words be seasoned with Your grace. We declare that no weapon formed against his future will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we trust that You will complete the good work You have begun in him (Philippians 1:6). May he seek You first above all else, knowing that all things will be added to him as he does (Matthew 6:33). We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
