Praying for spouse

We have heard your heart's cry for your wife and for your marriage and we stand with you in prayer for restoration and reconciliation, for we know that marriage is a holy covenant before God between a man and a woman for life.

We believe God desires to heal and restore marriages. Scripture says What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate. Mark 10:9 and For I hate divorce, says Yahweh, the God of Israel. Malachi 2:16. We also hear the promise that God can change even the hardest heart, for He says I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26. Nothing is impossible with God. Matthew 19:26.

We also want to gently encourage you to look first at your own heart before God as you pray for your wife's heart to soften. We are called to love as Christ loves. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it. Ephesians 5:25. And Be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32. If there has been sin, harsh words, neglect, anger, or any failure to love and cherish her as Christ loves the church on your part, we urge you to confess it to God and to her with humility and repentance. And if there has been unfaithfulness or fornication outside the marriage covenant, we rebuke that and call for repentance, for marriage is to be held in honor and the marriage bed kept undefiled. Hebrews 13:4. A softened heart in your wife will be more powerfully drawn by a husband who is daily being softened and transformed by God himself. We encourage you to remain faithful to your vows, to not pursue another relationship, and to seek godly counsel from a pastor or mature believers who can walk with you both.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. To pray in Jesus' name is not just words at the end of a prayer, it is trusting in His death and resurrection for the forgiveness of our sins and for reconciliation with God. If you have not already, we urge you to place your full faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing He died for your sins and rose again, and to seek Him daily.

We pray together for you and your wife now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we lift up this husband and his wife and their marriage covenant to You. Lord, You see the pain of separation and the longing for reunion. We ask You to have mercy and to work in both hearts. Soften her heart, Lord, and soften his heart as well. Remove any stony places, any bitterness, hurt, or anger, and give them hearts of flesh that are tender toward You and toward one another. Forgive any sin that has wounded this marriage and help this husband to love his wife sacrificially, patiently, and with humility as Christ loves the church. Teach him to lead with gentleness and understanding as instructed in 1 Peter 3:7. Where there has been wrong, bring true repentance and forgiveness. Where there is distance, bring healing. Guard this wife wherever she is, draw her close to Yourself, and if it is Your will, draw her heart back toward her husband and toward the covenant she made before You. We pray against any influence that would seek to divide what You have joined and we ask for Your will to be done in this marriage above all else. Give this husband peace that surpasses understanding as he waits on You. Philippians 4:6-7 and help him to pray without ceasing, to trust Your timing, and to not grow weary in doing good. Galatians 6:9. We ask all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, our hope and our redeemer, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray fervently, to fast if led, and to show consistent Christlike love through actions, not just words, while respecting her boundaries and free will. Do not manipulate or coerce, but let your love be patient and kind as described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. Seek the Lord first, remain in His Word, and trust that He is working even when you cannot see it. Let the wife depart, let her remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband. 1 Corinthians 7:11 shows God's heart is for reconciliation where possible. We will continue to stand with you, believing God is able to restore and to make your marriage a testimony of His grace and faithfulness.

We were moved reading your prayer for your wife and for the hope of being together again. Loving someone while feeling distance between you is heavy and lonely, and we want to stand with you in that ache.

Your desire for her heart to soften is a good and tender prayer. We have also seen that reconciliation, when God brings it about, is not only one heart changing but both hearts being gently reshaped over time. Often God does His deepest work as each person is drawn closer to Him individually, which then creates space for honesty, trust and new patterns between a couple.

One steady next step that can help right now is to invite one trusted, biblically grounded pastor or counselor to walk with you personally. Not to strategize how to persuade your wife, but to have someone who knows your story, can help you process what has happened, pray with you consistently, and help you love her well in a way that is patient and without pressure. If you are living apart, keeping communication respectful, clear and faithful while you each have support is important.

We are praying for you both.

Father, we lift this husband to You and his wife to You. You see his love for her and his longing for restoration. Draw near to each of them, soften and guard their hearts, give wisdom for each next conversation and decision, and lead them according to Your will. Bring healing where there has been hurt and help them to seek You first. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your burden for your marriage has been heard and we bring it with you before the throne of grace, for the Lord Himself ordained marriage that husband and wife should become one, not two persons maintaining a separate life, but one flesh knit together in mutual delight and complacency under His hand.

There is hope in such a prayer, because we have a God of Peace who has on His part prepared everything that is necessary for a perfect reconciliation. He has committed unto us the word of reconciliation, that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them. What He has done to reconcile sinners to Himself, He is able also to do in the bonds of human love where sin and hardness have made a breach. And we want that reconciliation to be worked at once by the power of the Holy Spirit.

You ask that your wife's heart may be softened and that you may be brought together again. We remember how Peter was down, yet he was soon up again, and his story is rather his restoration than his fall. It was brought about by a look from the Lord, for Christ had prayed for him that his faith fail not. That look severed Peter from the crowd and melted him to repentance, and what we cannot do with a sermon the Lord can do with a look. If Jesus the Beloved of the Father prays for His people, shall He not win His suit with God. He will win it. He will uplift those whom Satan has sifted. So we may come with confidence that the same Lord who prayed for Peter intercedes now for His own, and is able to soften the heart which seems hardened and to turn it again.

Yet we must remember that true restoration follows upon a true and genuine repentance. It is not a light thing to be made one again, and the Lord often uses affliction and separation to teach us humility and other graces. If any of us have been falling back, we may get such a restoration from the Lord Himself that we may become better Christians ever afterwards. Therefore while we pray for your wife, we pray also for you, that you may be kept close to Christ, faithful in prayer, tender in spirit, and ready to strengthen others by your own renewed walk, whether in joy or in waiting.

We do pray for you both. We ask the God of all grace to look upon your wife with mercy, to soften what is hard, to remove bitterness, and to incline her heart toward that which is good and holy. We ask Him to keep you steadfast, to cleanse you from all that has grieved Him, to make you such a husband as reflects the love of Christ for His Church, who sets a very high store upon His own. We ask that if it be His will, He would restore the years and the communion which have been broken, and that your home might again be a place where husband and wife rejoice in Christ together, joining in daily prayer. Above all we ask that Christ may be glorified in you both, and that whatever He ordains, you may find peace in being reconciled first and fully to God through Jesus Christ our Lord, in whom alone is salvation.

We will continue to bear you up before the Lord, trusting not in our words but in His prevailing intercession and His power to save and to restore.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We join you in prayer for your marriage and for your wife, asking God to bring healing and reconciliation according to His will.

Marriage is a bond ordained by God, and it is honorable. Scripture teaches that when a man is bound to a wife he should not seek to be loosed, but to live faithfully and chastely with his own wife, pursuing peace and holiness. This holiness is preserved in marriage when husband and wife live faithfully with one another and keep their covenant pure before God.

We pray that the Lord, who is able to soften hard hearts and to restore those who have become estranged, would work in both of your hearts. We ask that He would draw you both closer to Jesus Christ, for Christ alone is the Mediator between the Father and us, and only through Him are we reconciled to God and able to be reconciled to one another. May He grant you repentance where it is needed, forgiveness where there has been hurt, humility, patience, and grace to speak and act in love.

Father in heaven, we lift up this husband and his wife to You. Soften her heart and his heart, remove bitterness and hardness, and lead them both to seek You first. If it is Your will, bring them back together and strengthen their covenant as one man and one woman for life. Help this husband to walk in faithfulness, self control, and godly character, to honor his vows, and to pursue peace. Let their marriage, if restored, be marked by chasteness, gravity, and order, and by a shared faith in Jesus Christ through whom alone we have salvation. Give them wise and godly counsel and guard them from all that would defile what You have made honorable. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
