Treatment of Parents
From Death to Life
Sickness in the Mansion
Your pain has been lifted before the Lord in prayer, and I thank you for sharing so honestly the weight you are carrying. The loss of a close loved one leaves the heart broken, and the moment you describe, seeing a name and dates newly engraved on marble after your parents, brings that loss close again in a very tender way. It is right to grieve, and the Lord does not turn away from tears.

Scripture shows us Mary standing outside the tomb weeping, even while the disciples had gone home. Her sorrow was deep and very human, and the Lord met her there with gentleness and with the light of His resurrection. In the same way, your tears are not a lack of faith. Clinging to hope in the Risen Lord and weeping in grief can live together in the same heart. He is our comfort in times of hardship and turmoil, and He sees every emotion you bring to Him.

Take comfort in the promise of life which is in Jesus Christ. This hope is not seen fully yet, but it is sure. Those who have fallen asleep in Christ are not lost. The apostle teaches that the dead in Christ will rise, and that those who belong to Him will be ever with the Lord. The tomb with its stone and engraved name is not the end of the story, because Christ Himself has passed through death and made it a passage to life where grief and mourning will flee away. Your loved one, and your parents before, are in the hands of the sovereign Lord who does all things well.

In these difficult days, keep the oracles of God close as medicines for the soul. If grief presses upon you, open the New Testament, the Psalms, the Gospels and the Epistles, and dive into them as into a chest of comfort. Read them slowly, keep them in your mind, and let the promise of the resurrection speak louder than the sorrow of the moment. When you go to the tomb, remember that you stand not only before a place of remembrance, but before a witness that death has been overcome by the One who lives.

I have prayed for you, and I continue to pray, that God will grant you His sovereign help, healing for your broken heart, certainty in His promises, and deep comfort by His Spirit. May He strengthen you for each step, calm your heart as you face that visit, and hold you firmly in the hope of His risen Son.

Father, in the name of our Risen Lord Jesus, look with mercy upon Your child in this season of mourning. You know the weight of this loss and the ache of this coming visit. Grant strength for today, comfort that only You can give, and a steady certainty that Your promises are true. Heal the broken heart, quiet fear with Your presence, and let the hope of resurrection and eternal life in Christ shine brightly. Sustain and keep this dear one in Your peace, until the day when all who are in Christ are gathered to be with You forever. Amen.
