Praying for God's Healing, Sovereign help, certainty and comfort

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Please uplift me in your valuable prayers; a close loved one passed away recently and so many things are still difficult to cope with even if I cling to Hope in the Lord, our Comfort in times of hardship and turmoil. After the engraver's call, I now need to go and see my loved one's name and dates engraved on marble on the tomb after our deceased parents'. There is So much emotion in my broken heart. I need the Lord's strength and comfort more than ever. In Our Risen Lord Jesus Name. Amen.

Treatment of Parents
From Death to Life
The Ministry of Gratitude
We join with you in prayer and we lift up your broken heart to our sovereign Lord who sees every tear and knows the depth of this grief. It is a heavy and holy moment to go and see the name and dates of your close loved one engraved on marble beside your deceased parents, and we understand how so many emotions can overwhelm you even as you cling to hope in the Lord. Your hope is not in vain, for our God is the God of all comfort and He draws especially near in times of hardship and turmoil.

The scripture assures us that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18 and that He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3. We are comforted to know that you are clinging to Him, for He is called the Father of mercies and God of all comfort who comforts us in all our affliction 2 Corinthians 1:3-4. Jesus Himself said blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted Matthew 5:4, and He promises a peace that is beyond understanding to guard our hearts and thoughts Philippians 4:7.

We also cling with you to the certainty of our risen Lord Jesus, in whose name you have prayed. He said I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies John 11:25, and we do not grieve as those who have no hope, for we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14. This is the sovereign help and certainty you are seeking, that even in death His love holds us and He will wipe away from them every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more, neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more Revelation 21:4. When your heart is overwhelmed within you, He will lead you to the rock that is higher than you Psalm 61:2.

We pray together for you now.

Father, in the name of our risen Lord Jesus, we bring our dear one before Your throne of grace. You know the weight of this loss and the tender, painful moment of seeing that beloved name engraved in stone. We ask for Your sovereign help and Your healing touch upon this broken heart. Pour out Your comfort and let Your presence be felt as very near. Give strength for this visit to the tomb, steady the emotions that rise up, and grant certainty that You are in control and that Your love endures forever. Let Your perfect peace guard this heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Remind our loved one that You will never leave nor forsake them, and that to be absent from the body for those who are in Christ is to be present with You. Help them to keep hoping in You, to rest in Your promises, and to feel Your arms sustaining them each day until that day when You make all things new. We thank You that Jesus has conquered death and that our hope in Him is living and sure. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to bring every emotion honestly to the Lord in prayer, to rest in His Word daily, and to allow trusted believers to walk beside you in this season of mourning. He is your strength when you have none, and He will carry you through this difficult moment and the days to come Isaiah 41:10.

We are holding you in prayer as you carry this deep sorrow. Losing someone so close leaves the heart broken and tender, and we hear how heavy this next step feels even as you cling to hope in the Lord.

Seeing your loved one's name and dates newly engraved on marble, there alongside your parents, can make the loss feel suddenly more final and real. It is understandable that so much emotion would rise there. That moment often brings a fresh wave of grief, even for those whose faith is steady.

If it helps, you do not need to face that visit alone. Consider asking a trusted family member, friend, or pastor to go with you and to drive, so you can stay as briefly as you need and step away when you are ready. It can also help to keep the rest of that day quiet, giving yourself space to rest afterward without pressure to be strong for others.

We are asking the Lord to be near to you in that moment and in the days that follow, to give you strength for each step and gentle comfort for your broken heart.

Father, we lift our brother/sister to You in this season of grief. Draw near and be their comfort and strength as they see the engraving and as they continue to mourn. Hold their heart in Your care, give steady peace for today and wisdom for tomorrow. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Heavenly Father, please comfort them, give them strength, and surround them with Your presence and peace
in Jesus'name, Amen

We have heard your cry and we bring your sorrow before the Lord who is our Comfort in times of hardship and turmoil. To stand before marble where a loved name and dates are now engraved after those of your parents, with a broken heart so full of emotion, is a heavy affliction. Yet you have done well to cling to Hope in the Risen Lord Jesus, for He alone is able to bear you up in this hour.

Hear what the Lord saith to His people, Comfort ye, comfort ye my people. When God speaks this word He means that His own people should comfort one another, and that He Himself will comfort to purpose by His Spirit. He does not leave His children desolate in grief, but sends comfort as a bright winged messenger to the aching heart, and that comfort is sure because it comes from Himself.

You ask for strength, and the Scripture saith, They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. Human strength in any form will spend itself and fail. It is derived and measurable, and in a season such as this it quickly dries up. But the strength of God is inexhaustible and everlasting. He gives power to the faint, and to those who have no might He increases strength. To wait upon the Lord is to look to Him in prayer, to trust His sovereign help and to rest upon His Word, and in that waiting He Himself will strengthen you for the walk to the tomb and for every step that follows. It is not to your credit to remain weak when such strength is promised, for the Lord Himself saith, I will strengthen them in the Lord.

There is healing also in Christ, for the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ is healing virtue. Even His leaves, the simplest apprehensions of His grace and presence, change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. You who are sick at heart may dare to partake of Him. To believe in Jesus Christ with heart and soul is to find that His fruit is sweet and His leaves bring freshness even to those who mourn.

Take then this word as your own in affliction, This is my comfort in my affliction, for thy word hath quickened me. The external comfort of the Christian is the Word of God, and the internal comfort is that the Spirit quickens us by that Word. God does not always give comfort by a distinct and sudden act, but He quickens us and so we obtain comfort. Let the Word dwell near to you in these days. Press it to your bosom and say, This is my comfort now. There you will find certainty not in feeling but in the faithful promise of Him who cannot fail.

We pray for you now, that our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God even our Father who hath loved us and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, would comfort your heart and establish you. May the Lord grant you His sovereign help and certainty, may He heal your broken heart with the healing leaves of Christ, may He renew your strength as you wait upon Him, and may He give you deep and abiding comfort from His Word as you stand by that tomb. May you know that though you remember this misery as waters that pass away, you are held fast by everlasting strength in the Lord Jehovah, until the day when sorrow shall be forgotten in His presence. In the name of our Risen Lord Jesus we ask it. Amen.
