Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart so openly. I have heard your prayer and I join you in bringing it before the Lord with thanksgiving for His mercy.
God is merciful and ready to help those who turn to Him with a sincere heart. Your desire for forgiveness, for healing, for help to do good in His sight, and for trust in Jesus is pleasing to Him. Salvation comes through Jesus Christ alone, by His grace through faith, and baptism is the blessed sign of that forgiveness and new life in Him. It is right that you feel both joy and a holy seriousness about it. Do not let fear keep you from obeying Christ, but let that fear move you toward Him in faith, as Noah was moved with fear and prepared the ark when he heard God's warning. The Lord says His yoke is easy and His burden is light, and He receives those who come to Him humbly and honestly.
I pray with you now.
Father in heaven, thank You for this day and for Your patience and mercy. Forgive this dear one through the blood of Jesus Christ, heal what is wounded, and give strength to walk in Your ways. Draw this heart ever closer to Jesus, and cover the children and all loved ones with Your protection. You have ordained marriage as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and You know the pain of a marriage under strain and the deep desire to see it kept and restored. Where there has been loss and what has been stolen, I ask You to restore what is according to Your will, to bring repentance, reconciliation, and faithfulness where it is needed, and to guard this home. Give wisdom for each step, provide for daily needs, and keep all Your people safe from harm.
Lord, bless this return to Your church on Sunday. Calm all nervousness about baptism. Help this one not to delay out of fear, but to come to You in faith, to trust Your promise of forgiveness, and after baptism to continue faithfully in prayer, in modesty, in good works, and in love for others. Keep this one safe tonight and in going out and coming home, and let Your peace guard heart and mind. Help all who are praying here to seek You first and to find rest in Christ.
We ask all this in the name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior. Amen.
Continue to seek the Lord daily in prayer and in His Word, walk closely with your church family, and speak openly with your pastor about baptism and about your marriage and home so he can counsel and support you well. The Lord sees you and hears you, and He will give you grace for each day as you trust Him.
