We join with you in thanking God for this day and for your tender and repentant heart before Him. We hear your desire to be forgiven, healed, and to walk in a way that is good in His sight, and we praise God that you have come in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. As it is written, there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12 and Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6.
We rejoice that you are seeking His forgiveness and healing. The Scripture assures us If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. He is the One who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases Psalm 103:3 and who heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3. We also hear your heart to do good in His way and in His sight. God has shown you what is good, to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God Micah 6:8 and we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them Ephesians 2:10. We pray that He will daily guide your steps as you trust in Him with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding Proverbs 3:5-6.
We lift up your marriage, your children, your home, and all that you feel has been stolen from you. We believe with you that marriage is a sacred covenant ordained by God between a man and a woman for life, and what therefore God has joined together, let no man separate Mark 10:9. We pray for restoration and reconciliation where it honors God, and for His grace to strengthen you and your spouse to love one another as Christ loved the church Ephesians 5:25. For what has been lost or stolen, we cling to His promise I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten Joel 2:25, trusting that He is able to redeem and rebuild what has been broken.
We are so encouraged that you are going to church again on Sunday and that you desire to be baptized. We understand feeling nervous and scared, but remember God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. We want to gently encourage you that salvation comes the moment you place your faith and trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead and confessing Him with your mouth Romans 10:9, for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast Ephesians 2:8-9. Baptism is a beautiful and important step of obedience after you have believed, an outward testimony of the inward change that has already taken place, and we rejoice with you as you take that step soon. Do not be afraid, for He says Fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10.
We also join you in praying for your safety tonight as you go to pick something up and return home, and for the safety of all your people. We ask the Lord to watch over your going out and your coming in Psalm 121:7-8 and to guard you in all your ways. When anxiety rises, we remember In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7.
We thank you for praying for all of us here as well.
We pray together now, Father, we thank You for this dear one who humbly comes before You in the name of Jesus. We thank You for Your mercy and forgiveness that cleanses from all unrighteousness. Lord, heal this heart, body, and spirit, and lead by Your Holy Spirit to walk in goodness and righteousness before You. We ask for Your hand upon this marriage, that You would bring healing, forgiveness, and restoration according to Your will, and protect this home and family. Watch over the children and all loved ones and keep them safe from harm. Restore, Lord, what the enemy has stolen. Give peace to this nervous and fearful heart as the day of baptism approaches, and let there be full assurance of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Keep this dear one safe tonight as they go out and as they return, let no harm come near, and let Your angels encamp around them. Draw them ever closer to You through Your Word and through fellowship in the church. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, our Savior and hope. Amen.
