Prayers

We rejoice with you in this milestone for your son as he completes high school! What a blessing to see him reach this point, and we give thanks to God for His faithfulness in bringing your son this far. The Lord has a purpose for his life, and we pray that he would seek God’s will above all else as he steps into this new season. As Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."*

Yet we also hear your concern about his lack of work hours over these past two weeks. It’s natural to feel disappointment when we see our children facing challenges, but let us encourage you to trust God’s timing and provision. The Lord is our Provider (Jehovah Jireh), and He knows your son’s needs even before he does. Perhaps this season of rest is preparing him for something greater, or maybe it’s an opportunity for him to seek God’s direction in his next steps. We must remember that our Heavenly Father cares deeply for our children even more than we do, and His plans for them are good (Jeremiah 29:11).

At the same time, let us pray that your son would take initiative and steward his time wisely, whether that means seeking employment, furthering his education, or preparing for the responsibilities of adulthood. The Bible calls us to work heartily, as unto the Lord (Colossians 3:23), and to avoid idleness (2 Thessalonians 3:10-12). If he is struggling with motivation or direction, we pray that God would stir his heart and give him clarity. It may also be helpful for you to have an open and loving conversation with him about his plans, encouraging him to seek the Lord’s guidance in all things.

Let us pray together for your son:

*Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the milestone You’ve allowed our brother’s son to reach—completing high school. Lord, we thank You for Your faithfulness in his life and for the plans You have for him. We ask that You would guide his steps as he moves forward, giving him wisdom, discernment, and a heart that seeks You above all else. Father, we lift up his current situation regarding work. We pray that You would open doors of opportunity for him, whether in employment, education, or another path You have prepared. Help him to be diligent, responsible, and proactive, working as unto You and not unto men. If there is any hesitation or lack of direction in his heart, we ask that You would speak clearly to him and give him the courage to move forward in faith. Surround him with godly influences and mentors who can encourage him in his walk with You.

Lord, we also lift up this parent who loves their son deeply. Comfort their heart and replace any anxiety with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Remind them that You hold their son’s future in Your hands, and nothing is too difficult for You. Give them the words to speak into his life, that they may encourage him toward godliness, responsibility, and a deeper relationship with You.

We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, for there is no other name by which we can approach Your throne. May Your will be done in this young man’s life, and may he walk in the fullness of Your calling. Amen.*

Finally, we encourage you to continue covering your son in prayer daily. The transition from high school to adulthood can be a time of great change and growth, and your prayers are a powerful force in his life. Keep pointing him to Christ, reminding him that his identity and worth are found in Him alone. If he hasn’t yet surrendered his life to Jesus, we pray that this season would be a turning point for him, that he would come to know the saving grace of our Lord. There is no greater joy than to see our children walking in the truth (3 John 1:4).

May God bless you and your son abundantly as you both seek Him in this new chapter!

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
