Prayers to sleep

Anonymous

Beloved of All
So ill fatigued and overwhelmed and need God's major blessings protection and strength when I need it soon Jesus in your perfect will and let justice prevail asap your mighty protecting blood. Amen is 54:17

We join with you in prayer as you cry out in fatigue and feeling overwhelmed, asking for sleep, strength, protection, and for justice to prevail according to God's perfect will.

We hear your weariness and we bring it before the Lord together, for He sees when His children are heavy laden and He invites us to rest in Him. Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. And we are reminded in Psalm 127:2, for he gives sleep to his beloved. The Lord does not sleep nor slumber as He watches over you, as Psalm 121:4 tells us, and He alone can give you peaceful sleep. As it is written in Psalm 4:8, In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety.

We also lift up your need for strength and protection. When we have no might left, He promises to sustain us. Isaiah 40:29 says, He gives power to the faint. To him who has no might he increases strength. And Isaiah 40:31 reminds us that those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. You asked for His mighty protecting blood and justice, and we claim His promise with you in Isaiah 54:17, No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of Yahweh's servants; and their righteousness which is of me, says Yahweh. We also cling to Psalm 91:1-2, He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.

We know you desire justice to prevail quickly, and we pray that God's perfect justice and will be done in His perfect timing. For we know Yahweh loves justice as Psalm 37:28 says, and in Romans 12:19 we are reminded, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. We can trust Him to act righteously on behalf of His children.

Let us pray together.

Father in heaven, we come before You together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Your child who is ill, fatigued and overwhelmed. Lord, we ask You to pour out Your mercy and grant deep, healing, peaceful sleep tonight and in the nights to come. Quiet the anxious thoughts and calm the overwhelmed heart, for Philippians 4:6-7 tells us, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Father, cover this dear one with the precious blood of Jesus, be a shield and refuge, and let no weapon formed against them prosper. Renew their strength as they wait upon You, and bless them with Your protection and provision. Let Your justice prevail according to Your perfect will and timing, and let Your name be glorified. We ask all these things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, Amen.

We hear how exhausted you are right now, ill and fatigued and carrying a lot at once, and we have been praying for you.

Needing sleep when you are already overwhelmed can feel especially heavy, because rest is not a small thing. God made us to need sleep for a third of our lives, and when sleep is broken it affects everything else, our strength, our ability to cope, even our sense of peace. It makes sense that you are asking for protection and strength and for justice to be made right, you are running on empty and need God to hold you up.

If this illness and trouble sleeping and the fatigue continue, please consider reaching out to a doctor or clinic you trust soon so they can listen and help, we will keep praying alongside whatever care they can offer. You don't have to sort it all out tonight, just take the next faithful step and let God meet you there.

Father, we lift our friend to You tonight. You see this illness and weariness and the burden that feels so heavy. We ask for Your protection over them, for restoring sleep as You will, for strength for each day and wisdom for next steps. We ask that You would bring what is right and just about in Your perfect will and time, and cover them with Your peace. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your cry of weariness and sleeplessness has been heard, and we join you in bringing it before the throne of grace. To be fatigued and overwhelmed is to feel what every child of God must feel when human strength spends itself, for all strength apart from God is derived strength and must come to an end. Yet the Lord has not left you to your own faintness.

It is written, They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. Isaiah 40:31. When there remains no strength in you, nor any ability of any kind, then fling yourself upon the Divine strength and lay hold upon it. He gives power to the faint and to them that have no might He increases strength. He Himself has said, I will strengthen them, and therefore it will be fitly infused and wisely balanced. And His promise still stands, As thy days, so shall thy strength be. Deuteronomy 33:25. He will not give you strength to lay by for tomorrow, but strength enough to bear your sufferings and to do your duty this day, and as each day requires, so shall your strength be.

You have asked for protection and for His mighty covering. Know that all strength of every sort comes from God, and the glory of our strength lies in God alone. He who travels on the King's highway is under the King's protection. There is the way of childlike trust in providential guidance, and happy is that man who waits upon God to know what he shall do. His promise is sure, He shall give His angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy ways. Psalm 91:11. This protection is perpetual as well as personal, and the blood of Jesus Christ is your sure shelter, for justice itself was satisfied there. When justice came to condemn, Christ bore the punishment in full, and now God can be just and yet the justifier of him that believeth in Jesus.

You have asked that justice should prevail, and we pray with you that the Lord in His perfect will would do what is right. He is slow to anger, and His justice is unimpeachable. No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord. Isaiah 54:17. We leave the time and the manner in His wise hands, trusting that He who is infinitely just will not acquit the wicked, yet will show mercy to all who turn to Him with full purpose of heart.

Let us pray for you now.

O Lord our God, Thou art the glory of our strength. Look upon this weary one who is ill and fatigued and overwhelmed, and grant the gracious gift of sleep, for Thou givest Thy beloved sleep. Renew strength as only Thou canst, and let this soul wait upon Thee and be upheld. Spread Thy protecting hand over this life, keep in all ways by Thy power and by Thy angels, and cover with the precious blood of Christ. Let Thy perfect will be done, and let justice prevail according to Thy righteousness and mercy. Give power to the faint, and increase strength to those that have no might, that this one may walk up and down in Thy name and find rest. In the name of Jesus Christ our only hope and righteousness we ask it. Amen.
