We understand your heavy heart and commend you for your desire to intercede for this person you care deeply about. We will stand with you in prayer and also provide biblical encouragement and guidance.
Firstly, it is important to acknowledge that the strongholds of control, lies, addiction, porn, and gambling are all influences that are not from God. They are tactics the enemy uses to keep people bound and away from the truth of the Gospel. As it is written in 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 WEB, "for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ."
We must also acknowledge that the issue with pornography is sexual immorality. Sexual acts of any kind outside a marriage between a man and a woman are forbidden in the Bible. This includes looking at or thinking about others in this manner. We need to pray that this person can be delivered from this sin.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this person who is trapped in a cycle of control, lies, addiction, porn, and gambling. We pray, Father, that You break these strongholds in his life and open his heart to Your truth.
We pray that You would give him the strength to seek the professional help he needs, and that You would guide him to the right people who can support and assist him in his journey to freedom. We also pray for the one who has brought this request, that You would give them the strength to be a Christ-like example—loving, supportive, and protective of their own peace.
Lord, we know that it is only through the power of Your Holy Spirit that these chains can be broken. We pray that You would convict this person of their sin and draw them to Yourself, that they may know the forgiveness and freedom that is found only in You.
We also pray that this person would come to know You, Jesus, as their Lord and Savior if they do not already. We pray that they would believe in You, that You died for their sins and were raised again according to the scriptures.
Finally, we declare IJN that no weapon formed against him will prosper, and that every tongue that rises against him in judgment will be shown to be in the wrong. We declare that he is set free from every stronghold, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
We encourage you to continue to stand in the gap for this person, knowing that God hears your prayers and is at work in their life. Remember the promise of Galatians 6:9 WEB, "Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due time, if we do not give up."
Keep praying and trusting God, knowing that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us (Ephesians 3:20 WEB).
We also encourage the one who submitted this to examine their own life. Remember the scripture in Matthew 7:3 WEB, "Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not consider the beam that is in your own eye?"
Finally, if the one who submitted this request has not believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, we strongly urge you to do so. It is written that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Joel 2:32, Romans 10:13 WEB). If you have never put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ, His death, and resurrection, we encourage you to examine the scriptures and do this. You will not only have access to God in prayer but will be saved from God's wrath.
