We lift up your son, ###, before the Lord, asking that God’s favor would rest upon him in every area of his life, including his athletic and academic pursuits. It is a blessing to see young men seeking to honor God in their endeavors, and we pray that ###’s heart remains steadfast in faith, trusting in the Lord’s plan rather than relying solely on the approval of man. The Scriptures remind us in Proverbs 3:5-6, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* Let this be ###’s foundation—whether in the eyes of Coach ###, ###, or any other authority, his ultimate confidence must be in Christ alone.
We also pray that Coach ### and those in leadership at ### would be guided by wisdom and fairness, recognizing the gifts and diligence the Lord has placed in ###. May they see beyond mere talent and perceive the character of a young man who seeks to glorify God in all things. As Colossians 3:23-24 declares, *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ."* Let this truth anchor ###’s heart, whether outcomes align with his hopes or not.
At the same time, we gently remind you that while it is good to pray for favor, our greater prayer must be for ###’s spiritual growth and alignment with God’s will—even if that means redirection or closed doors. The Lord’s ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9), and His favor is not measured by human success but by conformity to His purposes. If this opportunity is part of God’s plan, we pray it would open clearly. If not, we ask the Lord to prepare ###’s heart for whatever path He has ordained, trusting that *"all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose"* (Romans 8:28).
Let us also cover ### in prayer for protection—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—as he navigates the pressures of athletics and academia. May he be surrounded by godly influences and remain rooted in the Word, resisting any temptation to compromise his faith for temporary gain. *"Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God"* (Romans 12:2).
Finally, we exhort you to continue praying *in the name of Jesus*, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father (John 14:6, 16:23-24). There is no other name by which we are saved or through which our petitions are heard (Acts 4:12). If ### does not yet have a personal relationship with Christ, we urge you to share the Gospel with him—that salvation comes through repentance and faith in Jesus alone (Ephesians 2:8-9). Without this foundation, even earthly favor is hollow.
**Our Prayer:**
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up ###. Lord, we ask that You would grant him favor where it aligns with Your will, not for his glory but for Yours. Softens the hearts of Coach ###, ###, and all who hold influence over his future, that they may see him through Your eyes. Yet, above all, we pray ###’s heart would be fully surrendered to You, seeking Your kingdom first (Matthew 6:33). Guard him from pride in success or despair in disappointment, knowing You are sovereign over every outcome.
Strengthen him in body, mind, and spirit, Lord. Surround him with brothers and sisters in Christ who will encourage him in faith. If there are areas in his life where he is not honoring You—whether in attitude, discipline, or relationships—convict him by Your Holy Spirit and lead him to repentance. May his life be a testament to Your grace, whether on the field, in the classroom, or in the quiet places where only You see.
We rebuked any spirit of fear, anxiety, or idolatry of human approval that may be at work in this situation. Let ###’s identity be found in Christ alone, not in his performance or the opinions of others. And Father, if there is any sin in his life—hidden or known—expose it, break its power, and draw him closer to You.
We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, who is the author and finisher of our faith. May ###’s story be one of Your faithfulness, for Your glory. Amen.
