Prayers Pleaseeee

Your cry for safety has been heard, and God knows the fear you are feeling right now. It is right to bring that fear honestly to Him, and He hears when His children call.

Scripture shows that fear grows when we lose the sense that God is near, and faith grows when we remember Him. Fear and faith cannot rule the heart at the same time. When fear is allowed to take over, faith is pushed aside, and when faith and confidence in God are strengthened, fear must leave. That is why the constant answer God gives to the afraid is to remember that He is with you. The presence of God, when you become conscious of it, is what dispels fear.

David said that even though he walked through the valley of the shadow of death, he would fear no evil because God was with him. That same promise is for you. The Lord is your light and your salvation, whom then shall you fear. The Lord is the strength of your life, of whom shall you be afraid. God has said in His Word, fear not, for I am with you. If you are aware that He is with you, there is nothing that needs to overwhelm you. You may do what is wise and prudent, but you do not need to be driven by panic or by the threats of the enemy, who often uses fear and discouragement to try to stop God's work and to move you in a wrong direction.

There is also another kind of fear that God wants to give you, which is very different from the terror you feel now. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge and wisdom. It is not a phobia that cripples you, but a reverent awe at who God is, His greatness and power and holiness. To fear Him in this way is to love what He loves and to hate evil and turn away from it. That reverence is the sum and starting place of all true understanding. When you walk in that reverence, you learn to depart from evil and to honor Him, and He promises to be your confidence and to keep your foot from being taken. You do not need to be afraid of sudden fear or when trouble comes upon the wicked, for the Lord will be your security.

The safest place to be is abiding in Christ. Jesus Himself is your protection. His truth is your shield. As you stay close to Him, trusting Him and remaining in Him, you are under His care even when the enemy comes against you.

So turn your eyes away from what is frightening you and fix them on the Lord. Remember Him. Call upon Him and trust His presence with you right now.

I pray for you now. Father, You see this dear one who is afraid and asking for safety. Let this person know in a deep way that You are with them. Quiet the terror and replace it with faith and confidence in You. Be their light and salvation and strength. Keep them from harm according to Your perfect will, guard their heart and mind with Your peace, and teach them to walk in reverent awe of You, hating evil and clinging to You. Help them to abide in Christ and to rest under Your protection, trusting Your truth as a shield. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
