Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for trusting us with what is on your heart, even when you keep the details between you and the Lord. God does not need a full explanation to understand your need. Jesus said your Father knows what you need before you ask Him, and He hears the prayers that rise silently from the heart as clearly as those spoken aloud.
We are joining with you in prayer for these three unspoken requests and agreeing together before the Lord concerning them. Scripture promises that the earnest, heartfelt prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much, and that when two or three agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done by our Father in heaven. We do not pray to inform God or to wear Him down, and we do not measure prayer by length or eloquence, for the prayers recorded in the Bible are often very brief. What matters is earnestness, faith, and a heart that truly seeks Him, as we saw in Elijah who prayed fervently and in David who was driven to prayer again and again by trouble and found comfort and assurance as the Spirit of God ministered to him.
Prayer at its heart is not a way to make our own wishes come to pass, but a way for God's will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. It begins with Him. He lays His purposes on our hearts, we offer them back to Him in prayer, and that opens the door for Him to do what He has long desired to do without violating the will He has given us. The wisest prayer we can pray in any situation, and the prayer we are praying for you, is simply, Lord, work Your perfect will in these matters. Have Your way and do what You know is best.
All true prayer rests on relationship. Jesus gave us the pattern to begin with, Our Father, and that relationship is only possible through Him. If you belong to Christ, you have the privilege to come as a child to your Father at any moment. If you have not yet come to Him for salvation, the one prayer He waits to hear is, God be merciful to me, a sinner, and through faith in Jesus that relationship is established and the way of prayer is opened.
Prayer is also worship, an awareness of the greatness and goodness of the One to whom we pray. It helps to remember who He is and the promises He has given, not because He needs to be reminded, but because it strengthens our faith as we ask. Like Daniel, who was a man of both the Word and prayer and who sought the Lord faithfully even when it was costly, we find God uses those who stay close to His Word and close to Him in prayer.
Be assured that the Lord hears you. Whether your prayer is a quiet thought lifted up in a moment or a longer time poured out before Him, He listens. We are praying that He will give you guidance, peace, and clear assurance of His presence, that He will work in each of these three matters according to His wisdom and love, and that you will see His faithfulness and power to lift up and restore. May you be encouraged to keep seeking Him, trusting that He who hears will answer in the way that brings Him glory and brings you lasting good.
