We have heard your request and we take your five unspoken petitions before the throne of grace in intercessory prayer, which is the sweetest prayer God ever hears.
Though these matters are unspoken to us, they are not unknown to Him. He knows the name and the need as Jacob knew to say, deliver me from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau, and so to be definite and clear before God. You may be reserved before men, but be definite before the Lord. Pour out your heart with holy argument and plead His own promise, saying with David, Remember the Word unto Your servant. What power your soul will have in prayer if you go to God and say, Do as You have said, for God has spoken and we may rejoice that He has spoken in His holiness.
Calling upon God in the day of trouble brings honor to God in the very act, for it is a truthful recognition that He is, and that He is a fact to the suppliant, and it brings honor to Him also in His answer, for He has said, Call upon Me in the day of trouble, I will deliver you. Many are the words which pass between the Lord and the afflicted saint, and He will not despise honest speech with Him.
We pray that you will fly away to Christ and stand in spirit beneath the Cross, under that crimson canopy where no flash of Divine penalty shall fall upon those who trust in the blood of Jesus Christ. If sin burdens you, look to the Son of God pouring out His life and trust Him, for then your sins are gone in a moment. There is no other name by which you can be saved, for salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and it is true humility to take God at His word and believe Him.
So we entreat the Lord to remember His Word unto you, to grant you faith to trust and not to fear, to deliver you as He has promised, and to exalt Himself above all your cares, that you may rejoice in hope of the glory of God and find His mercy great unto the heavens. We leave these five burdens with Him who hears before we call, trusting He will do as He has said.
