Prayers Please

Thank you for trusting us with these four unspoken requests. We are lifting them before the Lord with you, and we take comfort that your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. Even when requests remain unspoken, He knows each detail perfectly.

Prayer is not a way of informing God of something He does not already know, nor is it a means to persuade Him to do what we want. Jesus gave a pattern for prayer that begins with relationship, Our Father, and that relationship is only opened through faith in Jesus Christ. Apart from Him the prayer God desires to hear is, God be merciful to me a sinner, and through that mercy we become His children and can come boldly to Him.

The purpose of prayer is not to get our will done on earth but to see His will done. Prayer begins with God and His purposes, He makes His will known to our hearts, and we speak it back to Him. That is why the wisest and most settled prayer we can offer for each of these four needs is, Lord, let Your will be done, Your kingdom come in this situation as it is in heaven. Have Your complete and perfect way. When we pray this way we open the door for God to do what He has long desired to do without violating the will He has given us.

Scripture teaches that the earnest, heartfelt prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much. Like Elijah who prayed fervently or Daniel who continued as a man of the Word and a man of prayer even when it put him in danger, God still uses those who seek Him with their whole heart. It is not the length of the prayer or eloquent words that make it effective, but a sincere heart that trusts the Lord rather than trusting in people, strength, or resources. Those who trust in the Lord find peace, for the work of righteousness brings peace.

We often want answers immediately and find it hard to wait on God, as David did when he cried out for God to make haste to help him. Yet God calls us to trust Him and to wait with confidence, ending our prayers with praise because we believe He has heard us and will answer according to His perfect wisdom and love. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.

So together in agreement we pray for you now. Father, we thank You that You are our Father through Jesus Christ. We bring these four unspoken burdens to You. You see each one clearly, You know the need, the hurt, and the hope behind each request. We ask that Your will be done in each situation. Grant wisdom, provision, healing, and peace as You see best. Draw the heart that is praying closer to You through Your Word, give strength to trust You and to wait on You, and let the answer bring glory to You and peace to this life. We praise You now that You hear and that You will act in faithful love. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
