Thank you for trusting us with these four unspoken requests. Even though they remain unspoken to us, they are fully known to the Lord. Jesus taught that your Father knows what you need before you ask Him, so prayer is not about informing God of details He does not know, but about bringing your heart to Him in trust.
Prayer rests on relationship. Jesus gave a pattern for prayer that begins with being able to say Father, and that relationship is opened through Jesus Christ. If you know Him as Savior, you have access to come freely and be heard. If that relationship is not yet settled, the first and most important prayer is simply asking God for mercy as a sinner and receiving His forgiveness through Christ. That opens the way for all other prayer.
The purpose of prayer is not to persuade God to do our will, but to align our hearts with His will. True prayer begins with God and His purposes, which He makes known to us, and we then speak back to Him what He has laid on our hearts. For each of these four matters, the wisest prayer we can pray together is that the Lord would work His perfect will in each situation, and that He would give you wisdom and peace to walk in it. In that way prayer changes us more than it changes God, because God already knows what is best and we learn to trust His goodness.
Jesus invites all who are weary and carrying heavy loads to come to Him for rest. Every person carries a burden, and trying to please self or to carry these cares alone is heavy and brings unrest. His yoke is easy and His burden is light, because living to please the Father is where rest is found. We often take on burdens God never placed on us, or let others place them on us, and we feel pressed down. The Lord does not want you crushed by that weight. Scripture says to cast your burden on the Lord and He will sustain you, and to turn your cares into prayers. In everything, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and His peace will guard your heart.
So we are joining with you in prayer for these four unspoken needs. We ask that God would sustain you, provide what is needed, give clear direction, and bring His peace as you trust Him. The earnest, heartfelt prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is at work, and Jesus promised that when His people agree together concerning a matter, He hears. We agree with you now that God will answer according to His wisdom and love, and that you will find strength as you cast each care on Him. May you be able to end your prayers with praise, confident that He has heard and will act for your good and His glory.
