Thank you for trusting us with these five unspoken requests. God already knows each one completely, even though they remain unspoken to us. He knew what you would need long before you felt the need, and He knows what you will need in the months and years ahead. Prayer is not informing Him of something He does not know, but coming into fellowship with Him about what He already knows and purposes to do.
That is why the heart of prayer is not to get your will done on earth, but to get His will done. True prayer begins with God and His purposes, which He makes known to your heart, and you then express back to Him. He will not force His way against your willing choice, so prayer opens the door for Him to do freely what He desires to do in your life without violating your will. The wisest prayer you can pray for each of these five matters is simply, Lord, work out Your perfect will in my life.
We understand waiting is hard. Like David in the Psalms, you may feel at times that God is not answering or has forgotten, and that can bring discouragement and anxiety. Learning to trust Him does not mean you will always understand what He is doing, but you can trust His character because He is good and He loves you. His desire is to bless you, not because you are so good, but because He is so good. You can surrender each unspoken burden to Him and say, Your kingdom come, Your will be done in these situations as it is in heaven.
God does hear and answer the prayers of His people, though sometimes the answer seems delayed and the problem remains for a time. When that happens our first thought should not be to blame Him, but to look to our own hearts. Scripture says if we cherish sin in our hearts the Lord will not hear us, yet He always hears the prayer, God be merciful to me a sinner. If you have come to the Father through faith in Jesus Christ alone, you have the relationship that makes prayer effective, and you can call Him Father. If there is anything that needs confession, bring it to Him openly so nothing hinders fellowship. Prayer is also worship, simply beholding His greatness and goodness with thanksgiving, not only asking for things.
During prayer the Spirit ministers comfort and assurance to your heart, and the prayer of faith can end with praise, with confidence that God has heard and will act according to His wisdom and love. So we are praying for you now, that for each of these five unspoken requests God will do what is best, that He will make His will clear to you, give you direction for the way you should walk, guard you from evil, and fill you with peace as you wait on Him. May you lift your soul to Him in trust, knowing He is your hope, your fortress and your deliverer, and may you be able to praise Him even before you see the answers, because you trust the One who holds all five needs in His hands.
