Prayers Please

Thank you for trusting us with these four unspoken requests. Though they are unspoken to us, they are fully known to God. He knew what you would need long before you ever brought it to Him, and He hears every prayer offered by His children in faith.

We are praying for you, and we want to encourage you to keep praying with confidence. God delights to bless His people, not because we are so good, but because He is so good. There are no categories of hard or easy with Him. What feels impossible to us is not more difficult for Him, for He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think. The most important thing is not the posture of your body as you pray, but the posture of your heart before Him, a heart that is humble, honest, and surrendered.

True prayer is not informing God of something He does not know, and it is not trying to get our own will done. It is coming into agreement with Him so that His will may be done on earth as it is in heaven. Scripture teaches that if we cherish sin in our hearts, it hinders our prayers, but God always hears the honest prayer for mercy, and through Jesus Christ we have open access to the Father. The wisest prayer we can pray for each of these four matters is simply, Lord, work out Your perfect will in my life. When we pray that way we open the door for Him to do what He has already purposed in love to do, without violating the choice He has given us.

Because prayer rests on trust in who God is, it can end in praise even before we see the answer. Like Abraham who gave glory to God while still waiting for the promise, and like David who cried out to God and then praised Him in confidence, we can thank God in advance that He has heard and that He will answer according to His wisdom and goodness. He is faithful, He loves you, and to go against Him only brings loss, while to walk with Him brings protection from evil and peace.

So we join you in asking the Lord to meet each of these four needs according to His perfect knowledge and love, to keep you from evil, to draw you closer to Himself through this time, and to give you assurance and comfort by His Spirit as you wait on Him. May you worship Him for who He is, rest in His goodness, and find strength to trust His answer, whatever form it takes, knowing that He hears and He cares.
