Thank you for reaching out and sharing this burden so openly. Your request for protection and safety and for your eyesight has been heard, and you are being lifted up in prayer.
I want you to know that God sees your need and cares deeply about both your physical safety and your vision. Scripture shows that Jesus has authority in every realm, over sickness and infirmity, over the forces of nature, and over spiritual powers. Matthew connects the healing work of Jesus to the prophecy in Isaiah chapter 53 verse 4, that He Himself bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses. When we pray for healing and protection we are coming to One who has already carried these things and who has power to help.
The Bible also shows that God does not heal in only one way. Sometimes Jesus healed instantly with a word from a distance, sometimes with a touch, sometimes after visiting a home, and in one place we read of a gradual healing where sight returned in stages. That variety reminds us that He is not confined to a pattern. There is also the healing that God has built into our bodies themselves. The natural processes of restoration that He created are divine because He is the one who created nature and its processes. And His healing touches more than the body alone. He brings healing to the mind and emotions as well, mending wounds and scars that are not physical.
At the same time there is much about healing that we do not fully understand. We do not know why some are healed quickly and others are healed slowly or not in the way we hope. It is not right to say that sickness means there is hidden sin or that you lack faith. That is not scriptural and it only adds burden. Even the apostle Paul prayed repeatedly about his own affliction and learned that God’s answer is sometimes different from what we expect. What we can hold to is that God is able, that healing is something we can and should pray for, and that we can trust His love and wisdom even when we do not have all the answers. Beware of those who make a show of healing or try to work people into excitement. True healing comes from the Lord, not from human display.
Faith is simply trusting that God can do what He has promised and bringing that trust to Him. In the Gospels we see people who reached out to Jesus in faith, like the woman who had suffered for twelve years and touched the hem of His garment, and in that moment of released faith she was healed. Your reaching out in prayer is itself an act of faith. Continue to bring your needs to Jesus directly, and also invite faithful elders to pray for you according to the instruction in Scripture to pray for the sick.
So now I pray for you. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ I bring this dear one before You. I ask for Your hand of protection and safety over them. Be their refuge and shelter, guard them from harm and from evil, and give them peace in Your presence. I also ask for Your mercy upon their eyesight. You formed the eye and You know its every part. Whether by Your instant touch or through the gradual processes You have ordained, I ask You to bring healing, clarity and strength to their vision. Comfort their heart, calm their fear, and heal any anxiety or distress that this need has caused. Let them know Your nearness and Your care today. Help them to rest in Your goodness and to trust You with the outcome, knowing that You love them and that You hear every prayer offered in Jesus name. Amen.
