Prayers please

Thank you for trusting us with these four unspoken requests. God knows each one completely even though they remain unspoken to us, and that is enough, because prayer is heard by a Father who already knows what you need before you ask.

There is great power in prayer, and it is not limited by place or circumstance. When Paul was in prison and chained to a guard, he could still do a real work for the churches he loved simply by praying for them. In the same way we can bring your needs before the Lord right now, and He can work in each situation even while we are apart from you.

True prayer begins with God. He puts His purposes on our hearts so that we can bring them back to Him, and the aim is not to get our own wishes granted but to see His will done on earth as it is in heaven. That is why prayer is more than just asking for things. It includes worship, simply recognizing the greatness and goodness of God, and it includes petition, bringing our own needs for wisdom and strength and help, and it also includes intercession, bringing the needs of others before Him. No prayer is complete without that reaching beyond ourselves, and we want to stand in that place of intercession for you.

You do not need to pray long or with perfect words for prayer to be real. The prayers recorded in Scripture are often very short. What matters is a sincere heart that trusts the Lord. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in people or in our own strength, because people fail but the Lord does not. Even when His working is hard to understand, trust says, Lord, I know you are at work, keep working and remember mercy. As you rest in Him and let Him work it out, you will find that peace follows grace. You cannot have the peace of God in your heart until you have first rested in the grace of God through Jesus Christ, and then that peace guards you.

We are agreeing together for these four matters according to the promise that if two or three agree on earth concerning anything, it will be done by the Father, and remembering that the earnest, heartfelt prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much. Above all, Jesus Himself lives to intercede for you. He bore our sin and now ever lives to pray for His own, so you are not alone in bringing these burdens to God. He is already praying for you.

We are lifting each of your four unspoken requests to the Lord now, asking for His will to be done, for His wisdom and provision and healing where needed, and for His peace to fill your heart. We pray this with confidence and with praise, trusting that He has heard and will answer according to His perfect love and wisdom in Christ.
