Prayers Please

The anxiety you feel before a job interview echoes a very old cry. There is a deep, ancient portion of Scripture where a man cried out in his misery, “I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet, yet trouble came.” Those words came from a man who had lost his health, his family’s protection, and his whole sense of stability. Your request for health and safety touches the same human nerve, a desire for the calm we think we need before we can face what’s next.

It is tempting to believe that our circumstances perfectly reflect our standing with God. When trouble comes, we might imagine that getting everything right and finding peace within ourselves will automatically make the external danger go away. That was the flawed counsel Job’s friends gave him. They insisted God was fair and just, which is true, but then they reduced that truth to a simple formula: “Get right with God, and everything will be okay.” They accused him of hidden hypocrisy, assuming his suffering proved he must be a crafty or foolish man. They missed the entire reality of what was happening in the unseen. There was a divine confidence in that man’s integrity that his friends could not perceive. God was not punishing him; God was bragging on him amidst a controversy the man himself did not understand.

Your job security and your health are not a ledger line tracking your worth or your faithfulness. If the interview goes poorly, or if your safety feels fragile, it is not necessarily a stroke of judgment or a sign that you have failed to lay God's words in your heart. That man endured the miseries of loss, the ache of a failing body, and the sting of false accusation, yet he never turned his spirit against God. He simply cried out that he didn’t understand.

Do not be afraid to bring that honest confusion to the Lord. In the middle of your distress, just as that ancient sufferer discovered, we often speak out of our grief rather than out of perfect doctrine. But the Lord is not offended by your cry. The profound answer to that man’s plea for a mediator, someone who could lay a hand on both God and man and bridge the gap, is found entirely in Jesus Christ. He stands in that place for you, so the terror does not have to rule your heart. Place your eyes there, not on the well-meaning voices that might suggest you just need to try harder to be at peace.

I will pray that as you walk into this interview, and as you navigate your concerns for safety, you would find a rest that is not dependent on your circumstances being quiet and still. May you see that God still sets the lowly and those who mourn on high, and that your ultimate safety rests not in a job offer, but in His hands.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer these past few days. It has been our joy to lift up your job interview to the Lord, asking Him to guide your words, calm your nerves, and open the right doors for you. We also continue to pray for your health and safety, trusting that God is your refuge and strength in every situation.

If the Lord has already answered your prayers—whether through a successful interview, a sense of peace, or protection in your daily life—we would love to hear your praise report so we can rejoice with you! If you’re still waiting on an answer, please know we are here to keep praying. You are welcome to post this request again so we can continue to intercede on your behalf.

May God bless you abundantly as you seek Him, and may His peace guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. We pray all these things in Jesus’ Name.
